Mini splits come up again and again. Since April, Google reviewers have described Coastal Mechanical installing them in a Harwich home, a Truro condo and two other homes, and one recent account followed a single install from an emailed quote request through Rob's estimate visit to Kevin's crew doing the work. The South Yarmouth company says it was founded in 2017 as a small family operation on Cape Cod and now runs in-house HVAC, plumbing and electrical divisions with about 20 year-round employees, with no subcontracted work. Its site names James Nolan as business manager and Robert Woodbury as VP of HVAC, and lists a service area running from Bourne and Falmouth out to Truro and Wellfleet. Google shows a 5-star average across 458 ratings. The electrical and plumbing sides turn up in the reviews too. An April 2026 reviewer had the company outfit a new home for heat, air conditioning and electric, with zoning advice for the thermostats and diagrams for placing switches and outlets; a February 2026 reviewer had lighting updated in a remodeled kitchen area; a March 2026 review praised a plumber named Jeff. Service calls draw similar comments — in July, a customer whose AC failed on a 97-degree Sunday got a text back the same day and had Brendan restore the cooling on Monday. Older accounts cover bigger heating work: a March 2024 review described an oil-to-gas conversion with a new boiler, removal of a corroded oil tank, coordination with the gas company and the Mass Save paperwork, and a January 2024 review described a heat pump install with duct repairs and a new zone. Some jobs went less smoothly. In a February 2026 review, a customer who paid for two second-floor zones said the air handler surged from the start, several return trips did not fix it, and they were left with one working zone and leftover ducting and dampers. A late-March 2026 reviewer on a maintenance contract said the technicians showed little interest in a front bedroom and bathroom that were not getting heat. And in November 2025 a customer objected to the office's plan to charge $185 an hour to pick up two parts the customer said were available at local supply houses.
