Read fifty reviews of the Chelmsford College Hunks franchise and you stop reading about a company and start reading about crews. Devin and Ray. Josh and Anthony. Erick and Will. Customers name the two or three guys who showed up the way you'd name a good waiter, and they do it over and over — which is the clearest signal here that the people on the truck, not the brand on it, are what you're hiring. The volume behind that is real: 878 reviews on file from 2022 to 2026 across seven sources, a 4.9 Google average over 1,814 ratings, and 175 reviews in just the last six months with a single negative among them. The work described splits between full household moves and junk hauling. A June 2026 customer had Michael and John Carlos work three days straight — hauling junk, packing, driving to Washington DC and unloading at the other end. Another that month watched Joey, Angel and Brian pack a POD tightly enough to save on the fees, in miserable heat, in half the time expected. A May 2026 reviewer called for a quote on junk removal and had the items gone within thirty minutes of getting one. The recurring practical praise is specific rather than gushy: crews arrive on time, wrap furniture before it moves, and load trucks efficiently. Several reviewers in June and July 2026 mention care with awkward items — an antique dresser, a piano, exercise equipment, a fourth-floor dorm room with no elevator. The one thing worth pressing on is the handoff between the office and the truck. A July 2026 reviewer, writing a 1-star review they said they hated to write, described a clear breakdown in knowledge and communication between the people who quoted the job and the crew who arrived, despite having supplied an accurate manifest that included sofa hoists. That is the failure mode to guard against on a bigger move: the quote is only as good as what reaches the crew. One other customer noted a late arrival, though they were called ahead of time and thought it was handled professionally. On paperwork, BBB gives the Lowell-based operation an A+ while listing it as not BBB accredited, and files it under junk removal. BBB records the business as started in June 2020 with about 30 employees. This is a solid call for a local move or a same-day haul-away, especially if you want people who will wrap things and work hard in bad weather. Before booking anything complicated, walk the inventory with whoever writes the quote, get the hoists, stairs and oversized items named in writing, and confirm the crew sees that same list.

We used College Hunks to remove a couch and some other odds and end. From the beginning, they were extremely responsive in communication with my wife and gave us a reasonable and clear quote as to what to expect. I cannot remember the name of the movers but they showed up on time and were extremely polite and moved fast! Highly recommend them for any moving or junk hauling job you have. Thanks again guys!

I genuinely hate writing bad reviews but I have to here. Do not hire this company There was a clear breakdown in knowledge and communication between the people who quoted the job and those on the ground. We had given an accurate manifest of our belongings including sofa hoists, description of environment, stops, and packed materials. College Hunks had 3 guys show up who had never hoisted anything, were woefully undermanned for the job. The guys worked very hard and I felt bad for them as we went onto hour 9 of our move, but the issues stem from a company whose business practices put them in danger by inadequately preparing them for a situation that can be dangerous. I understand that it was quoted as $255 an hour at an hourly and things sometimes go longer than expected, but they worked for 9 hours and didn’t even complete the job they were assigned because they were not given ample enough manpower to complete the job. The only reason they were done in 9 hours was because for the last 3 I participated in the move itself (which for those who don’t know, defeats the point of actually hiring movers) The final bill came out to around $3000 (which is more than 9 hours at $255 for anyone that knows how math works) we eventually settle at around $2100 after they removed around $800 for undisclosed materials (I don’t know, I haven’t received an itemized bill lol) That’s all before we discovered that the guys had broken our 2 tv’s valued at $600 (just because they’re not nice doesn’t mean they don’t cost money) and broken the cable line to our house which we will have to fix out of pocket. I can’t lie, these guys are horrible. Genuinely the worst possible outcome we could have had short of our you guys just driving a truck full of our stuff off a cliff into the ocean and still demanding we pay. I put in a call for someone to reach out so we can settle this, and we will be disputing the charge until we can come to some sort of agreement. And if I don’t hear from anyone, luckily I was moved to the town next door to their location and I will go there myself to speak to the owner
