A 275-pound treadmill, first floor down to the basement, with a stripped bolt on the frame that meant the display could not come off. Dan's crew worked it out in April 2025, and carried a heavy cedar chest upstairs while they were there. Move It Or Lose It is a Chelmsford company owned by Dan Shields, handling residential and commercial moves, packing, storage and disposal across New England. Dan is on the job himself and is the person customers deal with from the first quote. What customers describe most is what gets covered before anything gets carried: floors, rugs, walls, entryways, furniture blanket-wrapped and shrink-wrapped. On a snowy, slushy day in March 2023 one customer wrote there was not a track of dirt in either house. In August 2025 another said the crew protected every surface that could possibly be damaged, at a price they called extremely fair. The awkward jobs are routine here. A piano went from Chelmsford to a Lowell loft in January 2025. A whole gym was packed and its equipment partly disassembled for an out-of-state move from Massachusetts in May 2026. In February 2022, on a minus-four-degree morning, two storage units were packed into one truck and driven from Massachusetts to Maine. Junk removal and donation runs happen alongside the moving — an August 2024 customer had removal, moving and donation of an aunt's belongings done the day after she called. Schedules bend when they have to. A customer in October 2024 had their closing pushed back the day before the move and still got moved. In November 2023, a household whose original movers cancelled at the last minute on a three-bedroom move had Dan's crew step in. One recent account runs the other way. In April 2026 a customer wrote that after confirming the day before that the crew would arrive at 12:30 — the time they had specified when they paid — the experience was the worst they had had with any moving company, and they called the company highly unprofessional. If your move has a hard start time, confirm it again the morning of and ask who is dispatching the crew. For a local or New England move where the furniture and the floors both need protecting, a piano or a gym's worth of equipment, or a move and a cleanout in one visit, this is a strong Chelmsford call. Get the arrival window and the crew size written into the booking.
Dan's company, Move It or Lose It is the best moving company I've ever dealt with. We needed some belongings removed and a bed and dresser relocated in our home. Matt and Ryan took care of everything. They were professional, polite, took excellent care with our stuff and worked their butts off. Very impressive and when we are ready to move we will definitely use Dan and his team.
Move It or Lose It, LLC was amazing from beginning to end. We hired them for an out-of-state move from Massachusetts, and they handled everything with professionalism, speed, and care. They packed up an entire gym, carefully took apart part of the gym equipment, and also disassembled all of the house furniture that needed to be moved. Everything was organized efficiently and made to fit into two trucks in a short amount of time. After the move, they reassembled the furniture and equipment and put everything back together with no issues at all. Nothing felt rushed or careless. The whole team clearly knew what they were doing. Their employees were also incredibly professional. Everyone was dressed neatly, polite, respectful, and easy to work with throughout the entire process. That stood out right away and made the move feel much less stressful. If you are looking for a moving company in Chelmsford, the Merrimack Valley, or anywhere in Massachusetts for a local or out-of-state move, I would highly recommend Move It or Lose It, LLC. Their service was top-notch, and I would absolutely use them again.
Great experience with Move it or lose it, they arrived on time and took care of our belongings
I have NEVER in all my years of hiring moving companies EVER come across such a highly unprofessional company. This was THE WORST experience I have ever had, after confirming the day before my movers would be at my move at 12:30 as I stated when I paid for this service and articulated NUMEROUS TIMES they call me at 12 to say a mover dropped a brick on his foot and no one could come out to me until 1:30- an hour after my confirmed time, when I only had access to the property until 2:30- it wasn’t enough time. They had employees available but those employees didn’t have transportation or weren’t scheduled to complete my move as promised, so my only option was to cancel or wait an hour after promised. So I was left with NO MOVERS and my sister and I had to fulfill the move ourselves. I would NEVER RECOMMEND this company to ANYONE! Unreliable, unprofessional and downright waste of time when I booked this A WEEK in advance with all the specifications of this move. UnBELIEVABLE!
Google review: When my wife and I moved in to the same house, we merged two households. We had twenty pounds of “STUFF” in a ten lb bag. In addition to that, a lil spring cleaning was in order. I am no spring chicken and there was no way I could tackle this myself. I searched around for a moving company. I asked several moving companies if they could provide laborers without the need for a truck. Seven phone calls later and everyone responded with the same answer. “We don’t do that”. The eight call was slightly different. I was told that they do not supply laborer with out the need for a truck. That same person offered a referral. If a competitor gives you a reference or a referral, then you really should look into it. The name of the company is Move it or Lose it. I spoke with the owner, his name is Dan. He was easy to talk to easy to work with. I told him I need two may be three guys for a handful of ours. He checked his checked the schedule then booked the job. Three guys showed up, I show them around and told them what I needed it done. They said okay. I blown away as how courteous and conscientious they were. They covered the doorframes with blankets. They found jewelry on the floor and they handed it to me personally. I had to lose cash under my bed and they picked it up and handed to me personally. These guys are true pros. I recommend them any day of the week. Dan, job well done. Mike M.
