Connolly Construction and Development is a general contracting and remodeling company based in West Roxbury, Massachusetts, owned and operated by Christopher Connolly, with the Better Business Bureau listing 19 years in business and an A+ accredited rating. The company's own site describes frame-to-finish residential work — additions, kitchens, and bathrooms — and self-reports (not registry-verified in this record) a Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license (#179125) and Construction Supervisor license (#097968), alongside claims of being bonded and insured. The written record is unusually long, 25 reviews on Angi spanning 2014 through 2021, and shows a business many customers have used repeatedly over years for a wide range of work: kitchen and bathroom renovations, deck and porch rebuilds, room conversions (a three-season porch turned into a year-round office), window and door replacement, siding, roofing material matched to the home, and a basement family-room remodel after ice-dam water damage. Several reviewers describe using Chris for a decade or more across multiple projects and specifically praise being responsive, on time, and on budget. The record isn't uniformly glowing, though. A September 2021 review, rated 0.5 stars, alleges that on a roughly $12,000 project Chris's contract specified replacing a door with a Harvey window but a cheaper, non-matching Home Depot window was installed instead — a concrete, specific complaint about not honoring contracted materials. A separate 2014 review, while praising the quality of the work, criticized job-site cleanup and called the pricing a bit steep, saying the reviewer would get more estimates next time. A few other reviews mention Chris getting busy and starting jobs later than hoped, though those same reviewers describe him communicating proactively about the delay. Across Angi and HomeAdvisor, the company holds a 4.8-star average from 42 combined ratings (90% five-star, 2% four-star, 2% three-star, 2% one-star), consistent with the mix of strongly positive feedback and the occasional serious complaint visible in the written reviews. Connolly Construction looks like an experienced, broadly capable choice for kitchen and bathroom remodels, additions, decks, and general home renovation, with a long history of repeat customers speaking well of the work — but the 2021 materials-substitution complaint is worth asking about directly, and it's fair to confirm exact material specifications in writing before work begins.
Pleasant, honest, calls back, reliable, reasonable, Top quality work quickly done. When picking a contractor for your home, you want all of the above. Connolly Construction has it. On top of excellent work, you get friendly interactions and honesty. I have had lots of work done at my house and had to weed through a lot of dishonesty and unnecessary attitude. With Chris you get honesty, no attitude and confidence. I'm glad to have found Connolly construction and will be calling on them again.
I was only able to choose one project from the drop-down above but my wife and I have worked with Chris many times over the years on several major projects. Kitchen & bathroom renovation, rebuilding our deck, turning a three season room into a year-round office, as well as some smaller projects. We have always had great experiences working with Chris and his crew. Very responsive and professional. We highly recommend Connolly Construction.
It was a pleasure working with Chris and his crew. They remodeled front and side entrances to house; removed old wood on existing deck and installed composite deck and railings; added gutters to rear of house and garage; and remodeled entrance to garage and garage doors. Chris and I came to terms quickly,Chris understood what each of the projects required; we communicated easily when necessary; each project was completed in a timely fashion. Chris' crew members were respectful, easy to deal with, and they cleaned up after themselves every day they were on the job. Chris also gave me excellent references for an electrician, a mason, and a painter.
We hired Chris to replace multiple windows in our new home, including in the basement and to build window screens frames for our front porch. He also opened an exterior wall to add a window in our living room. All the work was done on time and on budget and the results have been fabulous. We will use him again and highly recommend Chris and his crew.
Chris and his crew are great. I have hired his company a few times for small to large projects. He is responsive and helpful. He makes sure we are happy and we arent he will make it right. Example: we had new cement shingles installed and windows. A few months later we started to notice the putty or cocking was turning pink. We let Chris know he came over and assessed it and contacted the manufacturer. Within a week he and his crew were here fixing it. He takes pride in his work and if something happens, even if its out of his control, he will make it right
