ControlAir Systems is a Burlington, Massachusetts, HVAC and sheet-metal contractor the Auger family has run for more than 50 years — founded by Armand Auger in 1967, and the company says it's now on its third generation, with Justin Auger as president. Crete Mechanical Group, part of Crete United, acquired the business in September 2022, though it has kept operating under the ControlAir name. Much of the current work leans commercial: Procore's construction network lists 179 projects tied to the company, 35 of them still active, and it's credited as the mechanical contractor on a life-science building redevelopment. On the residential side, Google reviewers describe a similar level of professionalism. In a 2024 review, a couple who'd just bought a house said the team was responsive and flexible when they asked for extra work mid-job, and a 2022 review credited the crew for showing up on time and leaving the job site clean and organized. Not every account matches that. A separate 2024 review described a technician who smoked in a client's maintenance closet, with the smell traveling through the vents — a complaint about on-site conduct rather than the mechanical work itself. A 2023 review was a bare "Terrible!" with no detail behind it. Two of the company's five Google reviews on file are 1-star against three detailed 5-star accounts, and Google's own aggregate for the business is 4.5 stars from 18 ratings. The Better Business Bureau gives ControlAir an A+ grade, though it isn't BBB-accredited and its BBB page shows no reviews or complaints of its own — worth flagging, that page files the business under "Plumber," which doesn't match the HVAC and mechanical work described everywhere else, including the company's own site. ControlAir suits homeowners and property managers with heating, cooling or ductwork who want a shop that's been at it for decades and runs its own sheet-metal fabrication shop rather than subcontracting it out. Given how much of its current activity is commercial, it's worth confirming residential scheduling and asking directly about the crew that would be assigned.
