Twenty-five permitted projects, three Houzz reviews. Cornerstone Construction's history in and around Lynnfield shows up mostly in building departments — the most recent entry a $299,800 addition and bathroom renovation in Groveland in August 2025, with earlier jobs in Somerville, Cambridge and Westford. The company works out of 153 Essex Street in Lynnfield and says Joseph Fodera founded it in 1991 and that its work is carried out by in-house tradesmen and long-standing subcontractors. The BBB lists him as CEO and Melaney Fodera as COO of a five-person business, accredited there since December 2024 with an A+ grade. What they say they do is the full remodeling spread — custom homes, additions, whole-house and kitchen and bath renovations, condo conversions and commercial build-outs — across Somerville, Lynnfield and the North Shore. What customers have written is uniformly positive, and old. Houzz carries a 5.0 from three homeowners, with work quality, communication and value each at 5.0. In a 2021 review a repeat client described a remodeled farmer's porch, screened porch and clapboard replacement, and credited the crew with working through an unconventional design rather than around it. A 2018 client described a steel-framed addition that needed precise coordination between trades. A 2015 kitchen client — open concept, hardwood, granite counters, a new exterior entrance — singled out the thing homeowners actually live with day to day: the crew and its electrical, plumbing and HVAC subcontractors left the house as clean or cleaner each evening, demolition included. The thing worth knowing is how thin and how dated that written history is. The newest dated review is from October 2021, and BuildZoom says it has received none at all for them, so ask for addresses and references from jobs finished in the last year or two rather than leaning on what is published. Sources also describe the business itself differently: the BBB has it as an LLC incorporated in 2023, BuildZoom as a sole proprietorship. Both BuildZoom and Houzz list construction supervisor licence 61691, but a directory listing is not a state check — confirm it, and the insurance, with the Massachusetts registry before you sign anything. For an addition, a whole-house renovation, or a build-out that needs several trades sequenced — the work their permits and their reviewers keep describing — they are a reasonable firm to have quote. Get recent references, and pin the licence and insurance down in writing first.
