Cornerstone Decorative Concrete seals and finishes concrete floors, and holds a 2.4-star Google average from seven ratings. A recent Google customer who paid $15,525 for floors at their shop said the floors are bubbling and peeling and causing tripping hazards, and that he agreed to come back and fix the work but no longer answers their calls. In a 2024 review, a customer said they paid $8,000 to have the concrete in their new basement sealed and polished, and that the floors look terrible and the added layer of cement is chipping. That 2024 customer said Mike pushed the date off a few times, concrete got on their new baseboards, and after offering a $500 refund he stopped answering messages. A 2024 customer said their floor began to fail within six months, and that Mike came back, sanded three large holes to test the damaged areas, and then disappeared. In a 2024 review, a customer said the company did a good job on the first half of their cellar but had not come back in over a year to finish the rest of the quoted job. A 2023 customer said the company removed a garage subfloor it was not supposed to remove and put in 1/2-inch Advantec instead of 3/4-inch, leaving their new drain higher than the floor.
BUYERS BEWARE!!!!! We hired this company to do the floors at our shop. The cost was $15,525- the floors are bubbling, peeling and are now causing tripping hazzards for our customers. He agreed to come back and fix his work- but now months have passed and he no longer answers our calls. Buyers BEWARE!!!!!!
Summary: I wish I had read a review like this before agreeing to work with this company. We paid $8,000 to have the concrete in our new basement sealed and polished. The floors look terrible and the additional layer of cement is chipping. The company does not stand by their work. And you'll see this consistent theme in other recent reviews. I hate to leave any small business a negative review, but I hope this review will save others from the terrible experience we had. And had Mike remedied, or even attempted to remedy the issue, I wouldn't need to leave this review. Details: I've worked with a lot of contractors over the years. I prefer to assume that people take pride in their work, are trustworthy, and therefor I'm happy to do "handshake deals" rather than getting everything in a contract. That really burned us in this case. In the summer of 2023, we hired Mike to seal our new concrete floors. The slab was chipped in a few places and the sealing was supposed to fill these in and then leave us with an attractive sealed concrete floor. I would happily take those small chips and our original floor back. Mike agreed to do the floor by a certain date, then pushed it off a few times. By the time he finally came, he was in the middle of a vacation. I think this led to a rushed job that caused the issues. Concrete got all over our new baseboards (would have been avoided if they came on schedule). More importantly, the floor looks so bad the our builder and other contractors kept asking "what happened here?" At one point, Mike was going to give us a token $500 refund because he felt bad about the work. While the only appropriate solution would have been working with us until the floors actually looked decent, I agreed to accept the refund to somewhat soften the blow. Then Mike stopped answering my messages. He actually left some equipment at the site, rather than speak to me again or attempt to do anything to stand by his work. Issues will inevitably come up from time to time. In my experience, owners understand that it's better to invest a bit of extra time, and maybe have a worse financial outcome on one job, so that they can build a reputation for quality. In this case, Mike took our money and ran. We now have a terrible looking floor and it will be quite a while before we can spend whatever it will cost to undue the terrible work and have it fixed.
Did a good job on the first half of our cellar, but it’s been over a year and he has not come back to finish the other part of job he quoted. Made promises to come in August. Not responding to messages.
We were initially very happy with our floor. but within 6 months it began to fail. It was very hard to get a hold of Mike to come and look at it. Eventually he did come out and told us he was going to replace it. He came to do the work, sanded 3 huge ugly holes in the floor to “test” the damaged areas and then disappeared. We have been left with something that looks truly terrible, worse than it did before the attempted repair. Broken floor, broken promises.
I was very disappointed with the outcome of my garage floor. The whole intent was to allow my newly installed garage drain to work. This company removed the sub floor (they were not supposed to) and then they added 1/2 " Advantec instead of 3/4". Now the drain sits higher than the floor! So somehow I now have to have the drain lowered. They did come back but only to power wash the floor which is now very uneven so it had dried water puddles on it. Ugh.
