Cowboy General Services works out of 32 Belmont St in Malden and is run by Bruno Rafael, whose name is in almost every review. On Angi and HomeAdvisor the company calls itself a professional painting company serving the Boston metro area; in practice homeowners hire it for a good deal more than paint. That widening shows up plainly in the accounts. A homeowner writing in September 2025 hired the team for interior painting at a new house and ended up having them do kitchen backsplash tiling, a fireplace remodel, a front door and a laundry renovation, describing the crew as careful and efficient throughout. A March 2024 reviewer, a repeat client, listed exterior painting, a whole-house interior repaint after a renovation, and carpentry including a new deck, and called the pricing very fair. Another March 2024 customer had a hardwood entry taken up and replaced with porcelain wood-plank tile, with the door trim cut down and reinstalled. The most detailed account, posted in April 2024, describes a 1940s kitchen designed and gutted to the studs and expanded during the 2021 supply-chain disruption; the reviewer said suppliers for cabinets, counters and appliances were lined up immediately, extra projects were absorbed without wrinkles, and two years on the room still looked breathtaking. Reviewers return repeatedly to two things: the site is left cleaner than they found it, and the pricing is straight — one wrote that no costs were inflated and nobody tried to scare them into unnecessary work. The most recent, from June 2026, says the owner treated the apartment as his own and worked beyond what was asked. The paperwork holds up better than most. The Better Business Bureau has accredited the business since April 2024 and grades it A+. BuildZoom reports a Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor licence, number 173927, verified active, and both Angi and HomeAdvisor list trade licence CS-118197 running to July 2028. Three permits are on record, including a $49,350 Brookline bathroom renovation completed in 2024. Two things to pin down. The volume is modest — ten reviews spread over a decade — so ask for references on a job the size of yours. And the trade descriptions do not line up: the directories call this a painting company while the BBB service list covers bathrooms, kitchens, decks and flooring with no painting entry, so confirm which trades the crew performs itself.
Bruno did an excellent job by using high quality material and is highly skilled on the job. He has amazing warm energy and attitude. Most amazing aspect is he treated the work and apartment as his own, always thinking and doing work beyond what we are thinking or asking. The best customer service contractor I have ever met. Definitely will hire him for future new work.
Bruno and his team did an absolutely fantastic job at my new house. Started off just hiring him to do the interior painting, but ended up having him and his team do some tiling/kitchen backsplash, fireplace remodeling, front door and a laundry renovation. Him and his guys were extremely careful and efficient with their work. Cowboy General Services can truly do it all. I will definitely be hiring Bruno and his team again for my next home project!
Highly recommend as you truly get what you pay for. Cowboy General Services values customer relations and will go the extra step to satisfy the customer.
A little late here. Bruno made a purchase from my business and I helped him with the install. I was impressed with him as a person and hired him and his crew to do some remodeling at my shop. My wife and I then decided it was finally time to do our kitchen and we now had our contractor. This was early/mid 2021 during the nightmare disruptions in supply chain. Bruno came over and completely designed the renovation of our 1940's kitchen. He immediately got us in touch with cabinet, counter and appliance suppliers and everything came together seamlessly. The process was incredibly coordinated and organized as this was a major project, we even added a few other projects along the way without any wrinkles. The room completely gutted to the studs and expanded so it was a major project. The quality of work and professionalism still amazes me 2 years later and I still walk into our kitchen 2 years later and it's still breathtaking. This is an award winning project that is magazine worthy. Finally, at the end of each day when they leave they leave your area so clean you wouldn't even know that they were their working hard all day.
I hired Cowboy contractor to replace our existing entry with porcelain wood plank tile. The contractor came in and removed the hardwood floor and prep it to lay the tile. He also cut down the entry door trim and reinstalled it. Excellent work done by this contractor and I would recommend him. I definitely would use this contractor again to do work at my home.
