Tom bought the air conditioner himself. A customer writing in July 2026 needed a through-the-wall unit replaced but was far from the property; Tom went out, worked out what would fit, picked one up and installed it. That is the size of most of these jobs — small, quick, and handled without the homeowner standing there. Cromer Remodeling works out of Waltham, and both the BBB and Angi put it at 38 years in business. Angi shows 4.9 across 127 ratings, HomeAdvisor 4.6 across 149 with a Super Service Award, and both categorise the business as a handyman for multiple small projects: thermostats, carpentry and finish work, storm and interior door repairs, window air conditioner installs. Angi also notes Spanish-language service. The written accounts match that. In January 2026 a customer had two wind-damaged storm door closers replaced quickly; in December 2025 another said the job was done fast and Tom was responsive. In May 2025 a homeowner had three pictures hung, one of them three and a half feet by four, and said Tom and Andres kept making small adjustments until it was right. A 2023 customer had several projects finished while under a time crunch. A HomeAdvisor reviewer credits him with standing behind his work after the job is over. The one four-star account, from June 2025, is about timing. A 9:30 appointment started at 11:20, after the owner had had a bad night with his mother in hospice care, and two heavy window air conditioners were then carried up from the garage. The customer called at 10:15 and got the explanation. If your day is tight, fix the arrival window and ask to be called if it slips. One thing to check: the BBB profile lists kitchens, bathrooms, attics, basements, decks and stairs, while every written account is a smaller repair or installation. If you want a full remodel rather than a day's work, ask for recent projects that size. A solid call for the list of small jobs that piles up — doors, thermostats, air conditioners, carpentry, things that need hanging straight. Confirm the window and who is turning up.
I had a through-the-wall air conditioner that needed to be replaced. Tom was responsive and was able to visit the property in a timely manner. He identified and purchased a suitable replacement unit, which was very convenient as I was far away from the property and could not do it myself. There were some challenges with the installation (we needed an electrical outlet modification and the first AC unit delivered was defective and needed to be returned) but Tom and his employee were professional and completed the job to my satisfaction. I would use them again in the future.
Storm door closers damaged by wind. Tom came out and replaced two closers in a timely manner. Will definitely use this professional again.
Job was completed very quickly and professionally. Tom is very responsive.
Installed two heavy window air conditioners, lugging them up from garage under to first floor. Appt was scheduled for 9:30 am, called them at 10:15 and unfortunately the owner had had a very bad night with his mother in hospice care. Finally came at 11:20. They were willing to wear masks inside our house. Installation went very quickly and smoothly. They knocked $25 off their usual minimum hourly rate because of the delay. Very friendly, would definitely hire them again (and probably will for A/C removal in the Fall). Would have been 5 stars except for the arrival delay.
Very responsive. Did a small job for me. Communicated well and completed the job with no problems.
