Call Dan's Painting & General Contracting about a water-damaged floor and the answer can come the same morning. A homeowner writing in July 2026 said Dan was out assessing a damaged floor, subfloor and bathroom ceiling less than two hours after the first call — and the same word comes up over and over in reviews of this Needham company: responsive. The name undersells the range. Painting is the base — interiors, exteriors, doors, whole houses — but the carpentry runs deep. A Winchester customer in February 2026 described framing, new subfloors, sistered joists and new flooring; a January 2026 reviewer had a deck built that ran on time from start to finish. After flood damage in March 2026, another household had drywall hung, carpet laid, light fixtures installed, wood floors refinished and the place painted by the same crew. Bathrooms and kitchens are regular work rather than a sideline. In February 2026 a customer had a wall knocked down to enlarge a bathroom and a new sink added, plus new kitchen cabinets and countertops. A March 2026 reviewer said Dan took on a kitchen and bathroom repair after water damage and coordinated with the insurance adjuster and the tenants; a 2023 review described a full bath renovated and a second one built from scratch. Scheduling comes up as often as the workmanship. Reviewers in 2024 and 2026 both mention jobs landing on time and on budget, and a January 2024 review described daily progress reports through a full interior repaint. Its Google rating sits at 5 stars across 62 ratings, with written reviews going back to 2022. The company's site says it has operated since 2021 with over eight years of hands-on experience, calls itself family-owned, and lists a service area from Needham and Newton out through Watertown, Waltham, Cambridge, Arlington and Lexington. A good call for a homeowner who wants one crew when a paint job turns into carpentry, or for putting a house back together after water gets where it shouldn't. Pin down the scope and schedule in writing before work starts, and ask for the current home improvement contractor registration and a certificate of insurance.
Dan and his men painted my home and did a number of repairs (window replacement, shoring up a porch). Their work was excellent, they were extraordinarily respectful and tidy. Great attention to detail and they were clear about time lines. I recommend them without reservation!
I used Dan and his team for the repair of a water damaged floor, subfloor, and ceiling in the bathrooms of our home - and we were very happy with the results. From when I first gave him a call, Dan came out for an initial assessment within less than 2 hours and got back to me the same day with an estimate. He was able to fit in the repairs on short notice and maintained excellent communication throughout the whole process. We had an existing plumber also assisting with the repair - and they were highly complimentary of Dan and his team's work quality. Thank you!
We needed a contractor who could patching and interior painting in our Watertown, MA home. Dan was extremely responsive, punctual, and did an excellent job. Dan and his team finished earlier than estimated and did high quality work. We really appreciated that Dan would call to provide a daily update at the end of each day with their progress and what they planned to accomplish the next day. We're really glad we hired Dan's Painting and General Contracting for our job and he will be the first person we contact the next time we need someone for a home renovation project.
Dan's Painting & General Contracting was timely, responsive and very collaborative to work with! I was on a tight timeline and he went above and beyond to accommodate.
I highly recommend Dan and his company! Their work on renovating my kitchen and new paint job on my doors are superb, and whenever I had questions about their process, they answered everything satisfactorily. I was also very grateful that whenever I asked for additional work, they got it done with efficiency and professionalism. Couldn't have asked for better contractors for major renovations like this!
