King of Remodeling is Gabriel Cerna's Waltham operation, and the through-line across two-dozen five-star reviews is versatility: this is the contractor homeowners call when a job doesn't fit neatly into one trade — a rotted deck, a leaking pool, a staircase that never had a proper landing, a 1920s house that needed its shingles saved and repainted. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. The reviews read less like a highlight reel and more like a running list of everything he's fixed. One customer describes him solving a leaking inground pool that two other contractors couldn't figure out, then re-cementing and painting it — followed by a second job rebuilding a rotted deck. Another had six new windows installed; when the job turned out more involved than expected, Gabriel stayed to the price he'd quoted. A third took a bathroom down to the studs and finished quickly to keep disruption to a minimum. Several reviewers mention using him repeatedly — for a staircase-and-landing rebuild, then a deck, then front steps in ipe hardwood — and multiple say he returns to fix anything that isn't right the first time. Painting shows up as often as carpentry: a 1920 Dutch Colonial repainted in midnight blue with white trim (still holding up two years later, per the reviewer), old shingle repair paired with a full repaint, and general interior/exterior work. Angi's profile adds siding and copper roofing to the mix, alongside 15 years of trade experience; the company's own site cites 10 years for Gabriel, while BBB lists the business itself as 8 years old — worth asking directly which timeline applies to what. There's no negative review on file, and the volume here — 25 reviews across Google, BBB, and Angi since 2021 — is real depth for a company this size. For a wide-ranging remodeling, carpentry, or exterior job in the Waltham area, King of Remodeling's reviewers consistently describe a contractor who shows up, holds to his price, and keeps coming back until the job is right.
Gabriel and his team did a fantastic job removing our warn out front porch staircase and rebuilding us a new one. The old staircase did not have a landing and it was awkward standing on the top step while opening the storm door which swings outward. We discussed designing a new staircase WITH a landing. Gabriel came up with a design that came out fantastic! The new staircase is solid! You can now stand comfortably on the new landing and opening the storm door is no longer an issue! I had previously purchased mahogany stair treads that I sanded and treated with a high quality penetrating oil that I wanted to use on the new staircase.Gabriel agreed to use my treads and did a great job incorporating them into the build. My wife and I both agree, "King Of Remodeling" did a great job! The new staircase came out great! We appreciate the added curb appeal as well! Thanks to Gabriel and his team for a job well done!!
Gabriel and his team just replaced my 20x20 deck with all new materials, and did an excellent job.
We are very happy with our new front steps done in ipe (beautiful hard wood). Gabril was very communicative and listened to what we wanted. lf it wasn't for the rain, the project would have been completed at most 3-4 days. Remember to discuss details, contractors are not designers and be clear about what you want. Overall we are happy with the work!
I just want to say Gabriel and his crew are the best!!! I have a very old house which needs repairs constantly. He can do it all! This is the third job he has done for me and I highly recommend his company!!
New paint on an old house and garage. About two years ago, Gabriel and his team at King of Remodeling transformed our 1920 Dutch Colonial shingle house, and the results were nothing short of amazing! We chose a midnight blue with white trim, and the house still looks stunning today. Before Gabriel started, the shingles were falling off, and the paint was peeling and chipped everywhere. His team sanded down the shingles, replaced the damaged ones, and repainted all the trim and siding. They also rebuilt our failing deck and gave both decks a fresh coat of paint. The transformation was incredible and our house looked brand new! The quality of work so good that about a year later, I hired Gabriel again to paint the inside of our garage. For prep ge cleaned and fixed the spalling concrete on the ceiling and walls, and then painting everything beautifully. The garage is now not only functional but also looks fantastic. Gabriel and his team are true professionals who pay attention to every detail. Their work is top notch, and two years later, it still shows. I highly recommend King of Remodeling for any painting or contracting needs. Gabriel will absolutely be my first call for future projects! Here are a few photos of the finished work.
