CTEC Solar describes itself as a solar and energy storage project developer, EPC and O&M provider, and its website claims 15 years in business. Local news outlets have covered the company's solar farm work. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0635344, held by C-TEC SOLAR LLC, is active on the state registry. On Google it averages 3.7 stars from 23 ratings. A recent customer said the company installed a solar tracker and never honored the warranty, charging for technical problems the customer expected to be covered. A 2023 customer said calls to Service went to voicemail with no call back after an installation some years earlier, then updated the review to say a Customer Care Coordinator had been responsive. That customer also wrote of being told residential systems are no longer at the core of CTEC's business model. A 2023 customer called the installation seamless. A 2021 customer said a salesman had written that panels and inverters were covered by warranty, but the company wanted to be paid for a service call when a problem came up.
“CTEC Solar proposes 1-MW solar farm in Bloomfield residential zone”
“The project, in partnership with CTEC Solar, owned by former New Britain resident Mickey Toro, will allow the city to join those municipalities that have decided to turn their closed landfills into solar farms despite the challenges.”
They installed a solar tracker and NEVER honored the warranty by charging me for any technical problem which should have ben done for free! Stay away from these crooks!
UPDATE 10/24/23 - I was able to establish contact with a Customer Care Coordinator, who has been great with responsive communications. Although residential systems are no longer at the core of CTEC's business model (so I was told), I was grateful for their support. Why I previously had to go through a "blackout" of no comms from CTEC, I do not know. I'd like to be optimistic about the relationship, given my most recent interactions with them. ORIGINAL REVIEW - Non-existent customer service, after the installation. My calls to Service are sent to voicemail, with no call back. Interestingly, calls to the Operator are routed to the same voicemail box (same person's name). CTEC did a wonderful installation some years ago, then repeatedly failed to even acknowledge me as a customer. It's sad... they used to be so good, but they offer me no choice than to send my business elsewhere. Buyer beware.
installation seamless; Customer Service excellent; highly satisfied
I purchased a system from C Tec salesman wrote me that panels and inverters were covered by warranty, Now have a problem and C tec wants to be paid for a service call. I would recommend going elsewhere for solar
