Ask what D Condron Construction actually does and the answer is dirt, not drywall. The Lanesborough company describes itself as an excavation contractor — land clearing, concrete, septic systems, underground utilities, paving and snow removal — while the Better Business Bureau files it under General Contractor and names Dennis Condron as owner. Its own site says the business is family-owned and was founded in 1996; that same site advertises "40 Years of Experience" in one place and 30 years in another, and the BBB counts 46. The written history is short. Google shows 4.4 stars from 10 ratings, and the five written comments run from 2021 to this June. The most specific dates to October 2024, when a homeowner described a new driveway threaded between a stone foundation and a neighbor's lawn — neither damaged, and the detail work, they wrote, came out better than expected. A June 2026 reviewer calls the crew steady and quick to come back when something needs another look. In 2023 someone credited the yard staff and the office; in 2021, a Spanish-language reviewer praised the workmanship. Two things deserve a question before you hire. A March 2023 reviewer in New Ashford wrote that the plow driver made one pass down the street, disappeared before finishing, and swore at people trying to move their cars — the lone complaint anyone has posted, and about a winter plow route rather than a construction job. Separately, a U.S. Justice Department release describes the company's owner being sentenced for tax fraud: over a three-year period he cashed more than half a million dollars in customer checks into personal accounts and underreported the business's gross receipts, drawing a year of probation, a $40,000 fine and more than $200,000 in restitution. The BBB page carries no rating at all — the bureau says it lacks sufficient information — and lists no reviews, no complaints and no government actions. Licensing needs the same caution. BuildZoom lists four Massachusetts registrations for the company: two home improvement contractor numbers it calls active, one issued in August 2025, plus an older HIC number and a construction supervisor licence it says were cancelled. None of those were confirmed against the state registry here, so they remain BuildZoom's account rather than a verified credential. For site work in the northern Berkshires — a driveway, a septic install, a lot to clear — this is a long-running local outfit with a small, mostly positive following and 30 projects showing on BuildZoom. Ask to see the current registration certificate yourself, and get the scope and payment terms in writing before work starts.
“Over a three-year period, in addition to depositing customer payments to his company, D Condron Construction, Condron hid over half a million dollars in customer checks by cashing them and diverting them to his personal accounts, resulting in tax returns that underreported the gross receipts of the business by hundreds of thousands of dollars; he was sentenced to one year of probation, a $40,000 fine and over $200,000 in restitution.”
The Condron crew is the most thoughtful and reliable contracting team we have worked with around the country. They complete the work properly the first time and are always available to help when needed for further assistance. I highly recommend!
They did a great job on our driveway. I had some concerns with our driveway butting against our stone foundation and the neighbors grass on the other side. They were able to accommodate both situations without damaging foundation or upsetting the neighbors. All the detail work looks better than we expected. We are super happy with how well everything looks and came out!
They are great. The yard guy and office girls were very helpful
There plow guy for new Ashford mass is absolutely horrible he comes and does one swipe down and sees everyone come out to move the cars so he can finish and just disappears and don't come back So when u try and move while he's out there he starts swearing and calling people retards
