In a January 2019 review, a homeowner described Dan Reitano tracing a critical rot problem in the sill beneath two sliding glass doors, cutting the rotten wood out, replacing it, pulling the doors, rebuilding the wall and setting two big horizontal sliding windows in their place. That is the shape of the work this Methuen company keeps turning up in: find the rot, rebuild the structure, put back something that looks right. Dan Reitano Home Improvements is family-owned by Dan and Tammy Reitano, and the company says Dan oversees projects personally. Its site says Dan started in construction after studying Building Trades at Salem High School, that he and Tammy combined their skills in 2009, and that the business has been incorporated since 2018; the Better Business Bureau lists it as a Methuen building contractor with an A+ grade, one employee, and no accreditation. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #190480, is active on the state registry. The written accounts come in two waves. Nine reviews on Angi dated January 2019 to January 2020 — the same set HomeAdvisor publishes — cover siding replaced high up near the roof of a third-floor building in June 2019, a bathroom remodel with a tiled shower stall in October 2019, and a January 2020 customer who valued the crew explaining what was going on and working around the family's schedule. Google's six, from October 2022 to June 2025, run to rotted wood repaired around windows in October 2022, windows and woodworking in May 2023, a farmer's porch replaced in April 2025, and a homeowner in June 2025 who had used him for a variety of jobs in the year since moving in. Four of the thirteen mention showing up on time or finishing when promised, and several say they would hire him again. Two things worth clearing up on the call. The years-in-business figure depends where you look: the Angi and HomeAdvisor profiles say 41 years, BBB says eight since incorporation, and the company's own history dates the partnership to 2009. BBB also lists a single employee, so ask who is on site day to day for anything bigger than a repair and how other trades get sequenced — one April 2025 customer had to bring in a second contractor and found Dan accommodating about it. For rot repair, windows, siding, a porch or a single-room remodel around Methuen and the Merrimack Valley, this is a small owner-run shop with 70 recorded projects behind it, most of them $5k to $50k. Pin down the crew and the schedule for a whole-room job, and get the scope in writing before demolition starts.
