Dan's Oil delivers heating oil and kerosene, and a 2026 customer said Mike Jr. now runs the business after dealing with Mike Sr. before he passed away. That customer called the company very accommodating. A 2024 customer said their gauge had broken and they ran out of kerosene; they called Dan's, and the woman they spoke with moved things around to get them a delivery. A 2022 customer wrote that friendly people deliver oil to the home, promptly and efficiently. The phone is where things went wrong. A 2025 customer, new to the company, said a man named Mike yelled and refused to let them pay the extra amount over a $5 difference, and that the kerosene was not delivered. That customer said the delivery driver was polite and apologetic, and that Mike told them prices can change upon delivery. A 2023 customer wrote that their grandmother, with the company since 1982, told the driver this would be her last delivery, and minutes later a woman from the office called, yelling not to expect any more deliveries. A 2022 customer said that after they questioned the price of fuel, the woman on the phone told them to find another delivery service and hung up. A 2022 customer called the delivery drivers professional and courteous but not the office staff, and called the prices the most expensive around.
We’ve been doing business with these folks for more years than I care to remember! Dealt with Mike Sr. before he passed away. Mike Jr. now runs the business and like his father, he’s fantastic! Mike’s Mom, Barbara, is an absolute joy to work with. Very accommodating and will bend over backwards to keep the customers happy. I’ll continue to be a customer for many years to come!
I’m not sure if it was the owner who spoke with us, but the person’s name was Mike. Over a difference of just $5, he became rude, yelled, and refused to let us pay the extra amount. He told his worker to take the phone back and said he didn’t need us as customers. The delivery driver was very polite and apologetic, but said his hands were tied and even suggested we go elsewhere. It’s disappointing that our very first interaction as new customers went this way — a family left in the cold over $5. I’d heard great things about Dan’s Oil until now. The driver and the woman I spoke to previously were both kind and professional, but according to Mike, prices can change upon delivery — something that was never mentioned before. I love how the Owner supposedly responded to my review but the facts are we had cash for one no check, for 2 the entire thing was recorded on my home cameras, and you absolutely did refuse to deliver and wouldn't let my husband go back into the house and grab the extra 5 dollars, also I was never told to call at 8am and I even called back yesterday to ask what time because I was going to leave the money with one of your long time customers that referred me to you in the very beginning as I wasn't sure i would be home and Patty even told me to call back and speak to Barbara and let her know exactly how you acted, even your driver sat on my steps attempting to get you to deliver the kerosene and you told him no to just leave! I have no problems paying but one thing I will never tolerate is being disrespected over 5 dollars that you could have had if you gave a chance for my husband to even explain. To you but you immediately started telling him to give the worker the phone back and you didn't need us as customers! Just know word of mouth spreads quickly and you cannot run a business acting superior and higher than others!!! Take care!!
Got no problem with oil company
Had an issue with my gauge had broken and I ran out of kerosene. Called Dan's and the woman moved things around to get me a delivery. Was very much appreciated and would recommend Dan's to anyone.
My grandmother has been with this company since 1982. Currently she is on a fixed income, and had some kerosene delivered this morning. She had some questions for the driver about prices, and the paper receipts which he answered, while being kind and respectful. My grandmother told the driver that this would be the last delivery, and they went their separate ways. Not even 5 minutes later my grandmother received a call from a woman working in the office, yelling that if my grandmother had a problem that she should've called the office and to not expect anymore deliveries because this company is done with her, thankfully she had already decided to take her future business elsewhere. Overall, the delivery man was nice enough and answered what questions he could. As for the unwarranted call from the office, customer service really needs needs an upgrade, judging from other reviews on here it seems to be a consistent problem with this company.
