Unfinished trim job — a 2019 review said he never returned after payment

DC Regan General Contracting is a family-owned business whose website says it provides bathroom renovations, kitchen remodeling, basement finishing, home additions and deck services in Norfolk, Bristol and Plymouth counties in Massachusetts, and reports it was established in 1996. It holds 4.9 stars from 18 ratings on Angi and 4.9 stars from 18 ratings on HomeAdvisor. In a 2024 review, the writer described a third job with Chris over a few years: first replacing the posts holding up the front porch, then replacing the flooring throughout the entire first floor, then repairing the deck and garage door frame, at costs of $1,200, $10,000 and $1,580. That 2024 review said that each time Chris provided options, explained the pros and cons and then provided an estimate. In a 2016 review, Chris added white PVC trim (skirt and apron) around a deck, working around shortcomings left by a prior contractor, and was in and out in just a few days. In a separate 2016 review, Chris and his assistant Mike were there several days, longer than expected, because they discovered more defects when they cleared the work areas; that writer said Chris cautioned them up front that this might happen and it did not add much to the initial price estimate. A 2021 review described a project with unknowns from the start, where Chris explained the options, answered all the writer's questions and did a great job in fixing everything. In a 2020 review, when additional work was needed to complete the job correctly, Chris informed the writer before he did it so there was no sticker shock on the final invoice. A 2019 review gave 3 stars: Chris did reasonable work replacing lots of house trim with PVC, but that writer said he promised to order a custom piece and, once he got paid, never returned and ignored texts.

This was my third time working with Chris over the course of a few years now after finding him right here on Angi. The first was to replace the posts holding up my front porch, the second was to replace the flooring throughout my entire first floor and the third to repair my deck and garage door frame. The costs of these projects were $1,200-$10,000-$1,580. Each time Chris provided me with options, explained the pros and cons, and offered suggestions then provided an estimate. He (and Mike) show up when they say they will and answer all my questions in detail. They treat me with the utmost respect and stand behind everything they do which is easy because it is well done. I will definitely not hesitate to work with Chris again.

It went very well and looks just like the picture. Chris asked a lot of good questions and worked very hard to bring the original design to life. He was open to questions and really worked with me to have this project come out great. He (and Mike) exceeded expectations. I would highly recommend him. I also appreciate his quick replies to any communications.

It was clear there were some unknowns with the project from the start. Chris clearly explained the possibilities, the potential resolutions and his recommendations. As the project began, it became clear that there were even more problems than originally thought. Chris explained my options, answered all my questions, and did a great job in fixing everything. Chris was easy and pleasant to work with. I would definitely hire him again.
