Del Cid

Del Cid is a one-man shop out of Huntington Ave in Hyde Park, and the permit trail says exactly what kind: small residential jobs, spread thin across greater Boston. A back porch in Revere. A finished basement in Waltham with a bathroom, laundry and exercise room. A deck renovation on Washington Street in Marblehead in 2021. A hot tub set on a concrete pad in Attleboro in 2025. Nothing over about $15,000. BBB files it as Del Cid Design and Construction, a sole proprietorship with one employee, owner Ely Jimenez Del Cid, trading since June 2012. The trades it names are broader than the jobs suggest — architectural design, drafting, construction documentation and interior design alongside the construction itself. The licensing picture is the thing to settle first. BuildZoom lists home improvement contractor registration 192279 as expired since 21 June 2020 and says it re-checked in April 2026 and found it still expired; a second registration, 156596, is listed as cancelled. In Massachusetts that registration is what covers nonstructural residential home improvement work and what gives a homeowner access to the state Guaranty Fund. Ask for a current number and check it yourself with the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation. Nobody has written a word about the work. Neither BBB nor BuildZoom carries a single review, and BuildZoom's "0" score is its flag for not finding an active licence rather than any judgment of the workmanship. BBB's A+ and its statement that the business is not accredited are two separate things — the grade is BBB's own scoring, not a customer verdict. Who this suits: a homeowner with a small, well-defined job — a deck, a porch, a basement build-out — who plans to check the registration and ask for local references directly, since there is no written customer history to lean on.
