Twenty-one written reviews, and every one of them is from 2017 or 2018. That is the first thing to know about Dependable Air Solutions, a Weymouth shop the Better Business Bureau lists as a sole proprietorship started in 2016 with five employees, run by owner Ryan Walsh. What those older accounts describe, over and over, is speed at bad hours. A customer writing in March 2018 called in the middle of the night during a snowstorm and they still came out; another, in August 2017, got a callback on a Sunday and a technician the next morning. A November 2018 Thumbtack reviewer who had lost heat said most companies quoted a month's wait and this one answered within half an hour. A September 2017 reviewer noted they replaced a defective part and cleaned the compressor coils instead of claiming the system needed refrigerant. The counterweight is one dispute that surfaces twice. In January 2018 on Angi and again that March on HomeAdvisor, a homeowner who ordered a Mitsubishi hyper-heat pump says the unit installed was a cheaper standard model, roughly $2,000 less, and that Mitsubishi confirmed it. That review is the lowest score on both platforms, and it is about the equipment actually installed. The current picture is thinner than the old one. BBB gives the business a B+ without accreditation and records two complaints, one of them unresolved; Angi's page carries a banner saying the pro is under review. The platform averages disagree with each other too: 5.0 across nine ratings on Thumbtack, 4.5 across twelve on Angi, 3.8 across five on HomeAdvisor. The emergency calls — a furnace down in February, an AC quitting in July — are where the older accounts are strongest. Before signing for a new system, get the exact make and model number written into the contract, and read the BBB complaint file yourself.
