Devaney Energy, in Mendon, MA, reports 25 years in business. It holds an A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau. In a 2020 review, a customer said that on two occasions when the furnace would not come on, they came within a few hours and fixed the issue, then came back days later to clean the furnace. In a 2019 review, a customer on the auto fill plan with a tricky burner said a service guy was always there within an hour of the call. In 2022, a customer who had used Arcudi/Devaney oil for about six years said their time projections were always spot on. In a 2024 review, a customer said a tune-up promised free with a new-customer oil fill was billed at $658.86, and a supervisor later said the customer was ineligible for not selecting auto delivery. Another 2024 reviewer said the company would not make an emergency delivery of oil only, without services or a service contract, after taking their credit card number. In a 2023 review, a customer who had just bought a house said the company would not come out to service a heater it had installed unless they bought oil from it. In a 2022 review, a customer said they came to clean the furnace and cut off the oil fill line, and admitted it only after a local plumber called them. A 2022 reviewer said the company ran a hard credit inquiry to start service over their objection, and a 2024 reviewer said a hard inquiry was conducted without permission.
This company is the worst company to do business with. I was offered a promotion back in September that offered free tune-up for new customers with oil fill up. I was instructed to go online and fill out the form. I then spoke to a representative who scheduled my first delivery and the promotion free tune-up for December 2023. In January 2024, I received a bill of $658.86 for the tune-up. After talking to a representative who placed the call on hold to speak to Brian, the supervisor, she came back and told me that " I was all set" "it was their mistake". On March 1, 2024, I received a bill with an additional finance charge of $9.74, totaling $668. This was strictly for the promotion tune up which was supposed to be free with new customer fill up. So I received NO OIL and just a tune up for a total of $668. I did, however, receive a separate bill for oil fill up. I then called to request to speak with Brian, who informed me that I was ineligible due to not selecting auto delivery. I tried to explain to Brian that they should have informed me that I was not qualified to receive the promotions because I was not informed to select auto deliver when I was initially filling out the online form to qualify for the promotion. He totally dismissed my concerns by telling me “Yeh Yeh I understand your point, but the company will not work for free” As a result of their miscommunication, I am responsible for the bill. I also addressed the fact that a hard inquiry was conducted without my permission on my credit report and that was dismissed as well. I feel the need to share my experience with other potential customers who do not recommend this company. they have poor customer services, lack of wiliness to deal with costumer's concerns and Their practicing are misleading.
Would not do an emergency delivery (after they took my credit card numbers and told me they WOULD be there the next day) because I wanted oil only, no services or service contract. I was willing to pay the extra $.80 PER GALLON because I understand that I am not a regular customer. If I could put ZERO STARS, I would have.
Generally ok, but service can be spotty and nothing is ever covered under their service plan.
Once again the consolidation of small companies being gobbled up by the larger ones give the consumer rude and un-empathetic “service”. We just bought our house and our heater/hot water was not working. We called the number in the burner and they would not come out to service it (they installed it) unless we got oil from them. We have an oil company we have used for years and are not going to switch. If it’s a policy, that’s understandable, but the way we were spoken to was unacceptable and speaks volumes of their culture.
I have been using Arcudi/Devaney oil since I bought my house about 6 years now. They are the 3rd company I've had to deal with since I started buying oil 9 years ago and by far the best. Their time projections are always spot on. They always know when it's time to fill up. They are understanding of family values and are very pleasant to deal with. Pretty sure that no matter where i move in the future I will be sure to move within delivery range of Arcudi/Devaney. #verypleasedcustomer
