Boucher Energy Systems is a family-run HVAC shop in Mendon that's been installing and servicing heating and air conditioning since 1981 — founded by Roland Boucher, who has 40-plus years in the trade including 28 years teaching HVAC at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational High School, and whose sons Joel (sales) and Dan now work alongside him. Its Massachusetts HVAC license is active, and BBB has rated it A+ and accredited since December 1999. Ductless mini-splits and heat pumps are what people keep hiring them for. On Google, 129 ratings average 4.8 stars, and the eight written reviews on file — running from a 2020 mini-split install through five reviews in the past six months, none negative — describe the same pattern: a quote turned around quickly, a crew that shows up and gets the job done cleanly, and the Mass Save rebate paperwork handled for the customer. A June 2026 review described replacing a failed mini-split with a new heat pump/AC system at what the customer called a reasonable price; a February 2026 review described an eight-person crew swapping in a whole new furnace, tankless water heater and heat pump in a single day, in a tight mechanical room, in the middle of January. On Reddit, one homeowner in 2023 credited Boucher with a ground-source heat pump install and called them one of the few installers experienced with that technology; another described a hyperheat outdoor unit plus two indoor air handlers performing well, and said they've also used Boucher for years on boiler maintenance. The company covers a specific set of towns — Mendon, Framingham, Franklin, Upton, Weston, Hopkinton and Wrentham, per its own site — and one 2023 Reddit commenter said Boucher didn't reach their area, so it's worth confirming coverage before getting attached to a quote. Beyond that, there isn't much to flag: BBB's page shows no complaints or government actions on file.
“Boucher Energy doesn't service my area :(”
“Maintenance is less than for a furnace since nothing burns. Twice a year they replace filters and (I guess) lubricate the few moving parts. Mostly I think they are inspecting to make sure everything is running smoothly. I don't remember the exact cost for maintenance but I remember it being significantly less than what we paid on ur oil fired furnace.”
“We had Boucher Energy Systems ([BoucherEnergy.com](https://BoucherEnergy.com)) do the install and have no regrets. They are one of the few installers with a lot of experience doing ground source heat pumps. They did a great job and did a ton of the paperwork required to get all the rebates. They continue to maintain the system for us and I highly recommend them.”
“Same here (especially for offering detailed quotes on multiple options for the system), also waiting on a quote from Boucher, so glad to see them mentioned above too, but I don't have any experience with either as an actual installer yet.”
“u/Independent-Housing2 I should add that both contractors I suggested did thoughtful manual-J load calcs, and in both cases suggested downsizing slightly. Boucher did our first heat pump (1 outdoor hyperheat and 2 indoor air handlers) and it's performed great and has been super comfortable. Pespisa is coming in 2 weeks to do 2 single zone units for our garage and great room over the garage. We've used them for years for our boiler mainte”
Can't say enough good things about our experience with Boucher. One of our aging AC mini-splits failed, and they quickly put a quote together for a new system, a heat pump/AC unit this time. The price was reasonable. They then got us onto their schedule fairly quickly. They did a great job installing the new unit. At every stage, everyone has been very helpful, professional and patient. We will be working with them again.
We have worked with Boucher for many years. They just replaced an old AC unit with a heat pump. They did a great job and took care of all the paperwork for the energy rebate. They are easy to work with and are reliable.
Ever since Boucher installed our central air we have never had any issues. They are here yearly to do preventative maintenance and they are always kind and professional. They back their products and services. Very happy with them.
I highly recommend Boucher Energy Systems! They turned what felt like a very stressful situation into a great experience. The whole team was efficient, professional, and made the process easy from start to finish!
The Team at Boucher Energy Systems, Inc. were exceptionally professional, proficient, efficient and skilled. I had a whole new HVAC system installed, along with a new Hot Water Heater, and I cannot say enough about how impressed I was with there execution of the project. A team of about eight people working in and around a fairly small mechanical room space, completing demo of the old system and hot water tank and installation of the new furnace, tankless hot water heater and heat pump. All on one of the coldest days in January. Completed in one day and when they left, there was no evidence of the amount of work that had just taken place. Clean as a whistle!! I highly recommend Boucher Energy Systems, Inc. to anyone looking for HVAC services.
