Both written Google reviews of DiFilippo Construction are one-star, and both describe specific problems. Its Google rating stands at 2.3 from three ratings. The longer account, an April 2026 review, comes from a couple who built a raised ranch with builders they describe as working under Oak & Pallet, naming Chris De fillipo as one of the partners. They write that a two-month build stretched to six months, that their 300-foot driveway got just a binder coat after paying over $10,000, and they list a gap between the shower and the bathroom ceiling, settling cracks, cracked grout, sliders without screens and a front door left unstained. They say a year of texts asking someone to come see the problems brought no one, and they paid their own painter and handyman to fix much of it. A December 2025 review is about a different job: salting a residential property. The writer says the crew's spreader threw large chunks of salt onto cars, that they salted even when only rain was forecast, and that workers arrived at 1:15am revving truck engines and shouting. The company's Rhode Island home improvement contractor licence, GC-41786, is expired on the state registry. BuildZoom shows two projects for it.
A greedy realtor Karen Colli of Engal & Volkers talked us into selling our beautiful home she promised suitable housing but we ended up in our daughters basement then a extended living hotel with our 3 cats. and got us involved with these hack builders who are under Oak & Pallet. We built a raised ranch with them and in the process lost everything. It was a nightmare from beginning to end a simple raised ranch went from the two month building to 6 months and mind you my above realtor left us living in our daughters basement. We weren’t allowed to see or talk to the builder only a young inexperienced designer they were using their go between. Russ Henry the owner informed me he and his partner Chris De fillipo were much too busy.to meet with everyone they were building with! Shoddy workmanship and just a binder coat on a 300 foot driveway that my husband paid over $10,000 for and no screens included with the upstairs and downstairs sliders, a gaping separation in the bathroom ceiling shower, settling cracks everywhere cracked grout in the kitchen in the bathroom along with the tile meets the wall frustrating texts back and forth for over a year me begging them to please come over and see for themselves, and no one showing up to fix anything we finally had to pay our own painter/ handyman to fix a lot of it. The space left in the bathroom between the shower and the ceiling was so wide our painter had to use crown molding to seal it! They left our very expensive wooden front door unstained against the elements and we had to find a painter that specializes in stain to fix it as the rain and snow had started to damage it.More of our savings depleted .Even the fireplace company had to come back to fix and replace the ripped screen left on it and also clean and fix the mess inside of it because it wouldn’t turn on. Mind the builder Oak & Pallet he had built 3 other house on the street and paved all their driveway’s and left ours a mess. We finally had to sell the home and move to a different better quality and better built home to try and forget the nightmare and the loss of our retirement savings. I will attach pictures as proof.Even the landscape person they used ripped us off by hydroseeding the back yard with hardly any loom so nothing grew except weeds and gravel. Gio Riccio & son’s landscaping and he also refused to come back and reseed when we decided not to keep him as our landscaper because he was to expensive. He then sued us for more money and got away with it. Almost every shrub he planted ending up dying so to sell the house I had to invest more money replacing everything. That was the last straw when we decided to move. I don’t have all the pictures because I deleted some out of despair I couldn’t look at them anymore. A garage louver door used to cover where the heating system was was broken and just left off to the side. They had agreed to install the new dryer which was delivered before we moved in but it was just left in the middle of the finished basement. We hired an attorney but got no help so in the end we lost most of our retirement savings. We were a middle aged couple who were to nice and were taken advantage of by everyone involved.
Zero stars if possible. This company uses an overpowered high velocity projectile salt dispenser that has regularly shot salt on the hood of my car, meaning the spray trajectory is set much too high and they use such large chunks of salt that it can the paint off of cars and the buildings in the neighborhood I live in. I had to buy a cover to protect one car from them and have recorded them and will share the license plates and company information with the other residents on the premise in advance in the case they damage my or a neighbor's car with the huge rocks of salt they dispense. With the force of their dispenser and the large solid pieces of salt, they could easily break automotive glass and chip paint as well as the buildings they drive close to. They also come and excessively salt even when there's only rain in the forecast. These people also show up in the middle of the night (1:15am) without any precipitation, revving the engines of their trucks and shouting at one another as if they're working in an industrial parking lot and not a residential property. They also shout loudly at night disturbing residents in their homes trying to sleep at night while distributing salt on sidewalks. I find DiFilippo Construction to be highly unprofessional. They use the cheapest, most dangerous materials and the incompetent behavior of the employees has disturbed my sleep every week throughout December. Difilippo Construction utilizes a lazy, dangerous method of application of salt. Would not recommend. I guess this low quality work is what to expect when a construction company tries to be a professional residential landscaping business.Must be the cheapest service in the area. Truly awful.
