Dom Petrosino

Dom and John were both very polite and patient with me and Dom explained everything to me and was very detailed and professional about everything. The price was reasonable compared to 2 other estimates I received. This is the 2nd time Dom Petrosino has perfomed electric work at my home and I would hire him again for sure. I rest at night knowing he did the job correctly too! I told him to use me as a reference but he said he doesn't need any references and that doesn' t surprise me!

Mr. Petrosino and his step son John arrived at my home on time to inspect any 'can lights' in my home making sure they were safe before adding any additional attic insulation. This was required by the company providing the insulation. The price for this evaluation was $200. They did the inspection, approved the lights and I paid the inspection fee. He was very friendly and seemed to be very knowledgeable about his work so after speaking with him I asked if he could do a few things while he was here. He said he was happy to do them. 1) replace 3 smoke/carbon detectors 2) swap out 2 sconces 3) check a light switch I was concerned about This all took just under 1 hour and 45 minutes. This included the time needed to go to my local Home Depot and buy a 3 pack of smoke detectors and 4 screws for the plates he said he needed to hang the new sconces. Less than 2 hours later he handed me a bill for over $900.00!!!!! I was in shock when I saw the bulk of the bill was the cost of the smoke detectors and after they left I did some research.. The '3-pack' of Kidde smoke/carbon detectors cost $130. He charged me $575!!! When I saw what they actually cost it made me sick to see how I was taken advantage of. So I called him very upset. He insisted that charging me $575.00 for the smoke detectors he paid $130.00 for was totally fine. I said that is over a 400% markup! He said he knows what they cost but "that's what I charge everybody" and did not feel badly about this. He also charged me 2.5 hours labor @ $145 per hour.... I asked him why he would write that when the work only took him 1.75 hours he said for "travel time".... HE WAS ALREADY AT MY HOME!!! On top of that I realized that after charging me for getting the missing screws to hang the new sconces he actually not only used the screws and plates that were on the sconces he removed, but he took the the 2nd set of screws and plates and now I have to buy new ones so I can re use the sconces he removed. THIS MAN IS A SCAM ARTIST!!! A TRUE CON MAN WITH NO CONSCIENCE TO SPEAK OF!!!!! After doing some research I have also discovered that in 2004 -2006 he had been on probation with the board of electricians and was fined an undisclosed amount. BUYER BEWARE!!! Now I'm off to write a complaint to the board of electricians....

EVEN IF YOU DO NOT HAVE USE OF YOUR HANDS, DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN TO CHANGE A LIGHT BULB! IT IS BETTER TO CURSE THE DARKNESS! MUCH OF HIS WORK DID NOT PASS CITY OF BOSTON INSPECTION. WORK NOT UP TO CODE. SLOPPY, UNFINISHED AND POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS WORK. WHAT A MESS! MANIPULATIVE AND SURLY ATTITUDE. WE MUST HIRE ANOTHER ELECTRICIAN TO CHECK ALL HIS WORK AND FIX THE JOB TO GET A PASSING INSPECTION. PRICE SEEMED FAIR AT FIRST BUT LOUSY BASED ON QUALITY OF WORK DONE. INITIAL EAGER RESPONSIVENESS TO GET AND START THE JOB TURNED NASTY WHEN WE INSISTED ON A PERMIT AND WHEN WE COMPLAINED. WE FEEL WE WERE INTENTIONALLY CONNED. WE HAVE SINCE HEARD OF SEVERAL OTHERS WHO HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCES WITH THIS ELECTRICIAN. (REMINDER TO ALWAYS GET A PERMIT AND AN OFFICIAL INSPECTION SO SOMEONE CHECKS THE WORK IN YOUR WALLS BEFORE CLOSING UP A JOB.)
