Ninety-five people have rated Dom's Workshop on Thumbtack and the average sits at 4.9. Nothing new has been written about the company on either platform since June 2022. Dominic Campelo runs it out of Nashua, New Hampshire, behind a Boston phone number, with a stated service area that runs down through Cambridge and Somerville and out across the North Shore as far as Marblehead. Thumbtack records three employees and eight years in business. The company calls itself a masonry specialist — mortar, brick, stone, staircases — and also takes on kitchen and bath remodels, custom closets and cabinets, and finish work. Masonry is what customers actually wrote about. In a 2019 review a homeowner described a stone wall along a driveway repaired properly, and said smaller jobs had been hard to get any mason to take. A 2020 customer had roughly 2,000 square feet of pavers restored in three days, and noted that Dominic told her up front he had not worked on pavers before and would research the method first — an unusual thing to volunteer. Another 2020 review lays out the whole transaction: a $1,700 quote, two days of work that finished early, a coat of paint on the railings thrown in, and an emailed receipt a couple of hours after paying cash. A 2021 reviewer described mortar work in a basement alongside exterior cement repair around a basement window. The remodeling side shows up on Houzz. A September 2022 client wrote about a kitchen remodel where unforeseen problems surfaced once the cabinets came out, and a March 2022 client about drywall replacement and painting after water damage. Two things to weigh. Everything written here stops in mid-2022 — four years back — and the Thumbtack Top Pro badges run 2019 through 2022 and no further, so none of it tells you how the company operates today. And the five-review Houzz set leans on people close to the owner: one reviewer says he has known Dominic personally for years and wrote from Canada, and on Thumbtack the most recent comment is from a homeowner who hired someone else entirely and was praising the free advice she got instead. For brick, stone, mortar or step repair this is the work the reviews describe in the most convincing detail. Before you plan around it, confirm the company is still trading, still covering your town, and — since it is based in New Hampshire — ask about a Massachusetts job it has finished recently.

Dom really did an amazing job with our kitchen remodel project. He protected the floors and handled everything from start to finish. There were some unforseen issues after removing our cabinets, but Dominic and his team handled it with ease. Can't recommend them enough.

I actually had decided to go with one of 2 other offers I received shortly after asking Dom for a quote and before he responded. He still took the time to give me feedback on the market value of the prices I had been offered, and the durability of the options I was choosing between. I had never had masonry done before, and his information was vey helpful. And he said to call him while the work was being done if anything seemed off about it. Well, today the masons were laying brick in the rain, and my online search said that would weaken the mortar. The mason in charge said no, but he already had said something that showed he wanted to get the job done on schedule and get on to the next one, so I wasn’t sure he was being honest. I called Dom, who freely gave his time to listen and answer questions, and was able to reassure me as someone with no financial interest that the current light rain would not cause any problems. I recommend Dom as a good person who puts himself out to help others when there is not an expectation of a return. That is a quality I would want when choosing someone to work on my home. Dominic and his team did a fantastic job replacing drywall in my home and painting after water damage. They went above and beyond to make my place look brand new. They were attentive, efficient, and provided high quality work at a fair price. I plan on hiring Dom and his team for future home improvement projects. Highly recommend!

Where to begin... I've known Dominic (the owner) for few years now. Dominic is one the most professionnal person I've ever encountered. I decided to get my cabinets done by him even tho I live in Canada because I knew I wouldn't find someone to achieve the job as Dominic would. He is meticulous, clean & always on time. I would definitely refer Dom's workshop to friends & family. -Sébastien
