Jim's crew at Dovercraft Construction has been renovating homes around Wellesley since 1978, by the company's own account — 48 years handling additions, kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and historic-house work across Wellesley, Natick, Newton, Cambridge, Dedham, and Dover. The company has also been featured on This Old House. Its written record is fifteen 5-star Houzz reviews, running from September 2016 to February 2017. Most of them tell the same story: Jim and his crew staying on budget and finishing on schedule. A September 2016 review said Dovercraft is 'true to their estimates and complete work on time'; a January 2017 review described a full basement renovation as 'better than we could have imagined' and said Jim helped keep the project on budget and on time. A January 2017 review recommended the company specifically for historic-house renovation, and two September 2016 reviews describe kitchen and mudroom remodels finished within budget. Houzz's own platform aggregate for the business is a 5.0-star average from 14 ratings, and its profile carries three Houzz badges and one Houzz award. The company's site and Houzz both list a Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration, HIC#100558, for Dovercraft, and BuildZoom lists a separate building license, #CS-082424. Confirming the #CS-082424 license directly with the state is worth doing before hiring. The newest of those Houzz reviews is from February 2017, so ask what the crew has done more recently. This is a strong call for a historic-house renovation, kitchen, or basement project in the Wellesley area — most of its Houzz reviews describe organized, on-schedule work. Jim, and the Dovercraft team are top notch. We used Jim a few years ago for a full basement renovation. The work that they did at our home was better than we could have imagined. Jim was so great during the entire process to answer questions, help us remain on budget, on time with each step of the project, etc. We often reach out to Jim regarding future reno questions and he is always happy to help answer any and all questions for us. We highly recommend the Dovercraft team.
