Light-fixture and outlet installations drew praise for Drake Elliott, but customers also described permit and wiring problems. The BBB identifies him as the owner of Elliott Electrical Contractors in Groton and gives the business an A+ grade with accreditation. Angi displays a Worcester address instead. His listed electrical services include residential wiring, lighting, outlets and panel work. In a November 2024 BuildZoom review, a customer alleged that Elliott failed to obtain a required electrical permit and did not respond when the customer and electrical inspector called about it. They said another electrician had to install a different circuit breaker to bring the GFI work up to code. The customer also reported a refused refund and said they had spent $300 without receiving the wiring they paid for. An older complaint concerns boiler controls. In an October 2018 Angi review, a customer alleged unsuccessful 24-volt thermostat wiring, damage to the boiler's control box and wires left hanging or exposed with wire nuts. They said Elliott would not refund the work. These are dated customer allegations about the work, rather than findings by a licensing authority. Other customers described completed jobs they were pleased with. An April 2025 Thumbtack reviewer said the workers promptly installed a semi-flush-mount light and removed the old fixture. In April 2023, a customer said Drake arrived on time for both the estimate and the work, installed two outlets and isolated a refrigerator that could otherwise be tripped by kitchen GFC outlets. They praised the price and said he chose a less destructive way to reach a difficult area. A June 2021 Thumbtack customer described a lamp-post light that stopped working after Elliott's visit. Their account also described his response: he returned the next morning, fixed the problem and explained that the bulb had not been tightened enough and the fixture had corrosion. The reviewer said the light worked afterward and updated the review to say he returned again to fit the proper screws without charging. Thumbtack lists a 4.5-star average from 26 ratings, while BuildZoom lists one rating at 1 star and Angi averages 2.8 stars from two ratings. The BBB lists licence numbers 12389 and 21312; BuildZoom lists electrician and master-electrician credentials under 21312. These are directory licence claims.
I needed a semi flush mount light installed to replace the clunker the previous owner left. The guys came and got it done in no time. They even hauled away the junk!
This electrician knew I had a building permit for my project and that he needed to pull a permit. He did not. He did not respond when I and the electrical inspector called to have him pull a permit. He did not do the job correctly as another electrician had to install a different kind of circuit breaker (arc) to bring the GFI he installed up to code. He refuses to stand behind his work and will not give me a refund. I spent $300 and now have nothing wired that I paid for.

Drake arrived on time for both the estimate and the work and he installed two new outlets one for a under-the-counter bev/wine fridge and cabinet charging shelf, and the other for a foyer charging station with the wiring hidden behind a shoe stand. He also isolated my primary fridge that was formerly on its own switch but due to kitchen renovations was recently replumbed and moved to a new outlet that could be tripped by the main kitchen GFC outlets. The pricing was a great value. Drake opted to take the most cost effective and least destructive courses for a problem area where even the plumbers had difficulty accessing downstairs and he did all this work both courteously and professionally the entire time. The finished work looks great (even though both new sockets will be hidden). And a bonus for folks with fur babies, he's good with pets and his colleague. This guy's a champ. Strong recommend.
Drake was really good. He came on time and fixed a switch outlet in our patio taking care of aesthetics. Will surely seek his services again when need comes.
