Dream Builderz

Dream Builderz is a Braintree general contractor built for additions, whole-home remodels, and custom builds — exactly the kind of work that shows up in its BuildZoom permit history: 47 permitted projects with a typical value near $23,550, giving it a contractor score in the top 4% of Massachusetts's licensed contractors. The company says owner Anthony "Tony" LaPuma has run it since 1975 and is still at the helm, working across Braintree and the wider South Shore and Greater Boston. Several 2022 Houzz reviews tell a consistent story of repeat business. One longtime client listed a kitchen/deck/dining-room job plus a re-roof handled over multiple visits; another called nearly full house renovation work done "many times" at their home the most honest experience they'd had with a contractor. A third, from the same year, describes Tony steering a customer away from a full siding replacement two other contractors had pushed, repairing only the cedar shingles that had actually failed and saving tens of thousands of dollars. A fourth recounts a full home addition finished with no delays and the client kept informed at every step. The five oldest reviews on file, from 2018 and 2019, describe similar jobs — a vinyl-siding-and-window replacement, a kitchen-and-bathroom remodel, and an office remodel — done years ago, not necessarily reflecting today's crew or pricing. Across platforms the ratings run uniformly high: 5.0 out of 5 from 18 ratings on Houzz, 4.6 from 56 on Porch, and an A+ Better Business Bureau file with no recorded complaints. Before booking, sort out which license is actually current. BuildZoom's own check currently shows an active Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration (#165769), but the same directory also lists an older HIC number for the company as inactive and "at one point cancelled," plus a Construction Supervisor license shown active but flagged by BuildZoom as unverified, with an expiration date last seen back in 2019. Worth noting too: the company's own "founded in 1975" account doesn't match BBB's file, which records the business as incorporated in 1988. For an addition, a kitchen or bath remodel, or a larger renovation from a contractor with a long paper trail of repeat clients, Dream Builderz fits — just get the current license number in writing first.
