East Hartford Heating & Cooling says on its website that it specializes in residential and light commercial heating and cooling, and lists air conditioning, oil tank replacements and duct work among its services. A story on nbcconnecticut.com quoted owner Rob Rolfe. Its Connecticut HVAC licence, number HTG.0303751-S1, held by EAST HARTFORD HEATING & COOLING LLC, is active on the state registry. A 2026 customer who uses them for rental and personal homes said that when a tenant's cast iron radiator had a non-repairable crack, the company talked through switching to HVAC, buying a new radiator or installing a second-hand one, and Rob showed where to look for a secondhand radiator. That customer said Rob also noticed a water heater slowly rusting during the installation, and when the tank later started leaking, the company gave a quote quickly, pulled the permit and replaced it. A 2025 customer said that after a boiler circulator pump broke around midnight, a tech came the next day, diagnosed the problem and replaced the broken part in about an hour. A 2026 customer said the tech had their heat working in under an hour after 24 hours without a working furnace. A 2024 customer whose 25-year-old furnace ruptured said they fit the job in quickly and got an 800 pound boiler down narrow stairs. A 2026 customer who had used them for oil deliveries and routine furnace maintenance said they came out the same day and replaced a thermostat. A 2026 customer said the company claimed high CO levels during a routine tune-up, and that a follow-up inspection by another company showed zero issues. A 2024 customer who booked annual service on three furnaces said the worker sat in his truck for most of the visit, charged extra for a chimney cleaning that was never requested, left the old filters in place and left one furnace off. A 2025 customer said an estimate for a central AC system left out the electrical work and gave no permit mention, no breakdown and no start date. A 2022 customer said the boiler installed was not the unit quoted, and that a couple of months later it was still not working correctly. A 2024 customer said four voicemails about a water heater or control unit went without a call back.
““Busy, busy and busier,” said East Hartford Heating & Cooling owner Rob Rolfe.”
East Hartford Heating and Cooling has been wonderful all the times we've called them for our rental and personal homes. The first time, one of our tenant's cast iron radiators had a non-repairable crack, and East Hartford Heating and Cooling worked with us to decide if we wanted to completely switch to HVAC, keep the old system and purchase a brand new radiator or find a second hand one that they could install. Rob was marvelous and showed me where to look for secondhand radiators if we went that route, and then gave the thumbs up once I found one locally. They saved us hundreds of dollars on the radiator and thousands upon thousands of dollars for an unnecessary HVAC system which they could have easily encouraged us to switch to like others that wouldn't even work with an old radiator system. Their installation was marvelous and the radiator is working great. During that installation, Rob also noticed one of the water heaters slowly rusting away and gave me a heads up it needed to be replaced in a very professional manner that didn't pressure me to change it out right away. He was spot on. This second time we called them after finding that the water tank had rusted enough to start leaking. They gave me a reasonable quote very quickly, pulled the permit and came out to replace it. Their prices are very reasonable and the quality is great. There is also a CLEAR difference between the water heater they installed and how they installed the unit vs the cheap water heater from a big box store that a contractor half-heartedly installed only 7 years ago. Additional times they have done great job include: providing a quick response to another rental property’s need for a new water heater, servicing our boilers, and pointing out an issue with how a chimney company reconfigured the height of a hood on a boiler when they did other repairs to the system as a whole. They are honest, professional and reasonably priced.
Just spent $143 for diagnostic to get back a super expensive quote. Should've looked at the reviews first. Can't recommend
When every big company that says they have emergency services couldn't help us, EH heating and cooling came through. Our tech was awesome and had our heat working on under an hour after not having a working furnace for 24 hours. 10/10 would recommend calling them first and will use them again of the need arises. Can't thank them enough for the prompt attention and professionalism .
Avoid this dishonest company, which falsely claimed high CO levels to scam me into buying new equipment. I requested a routine tune-up, but the technician lied about the results. I follow-up inspection by a reputable company showed zero issues. East Hartford Heating & cooling Highly unethical sales tactics, stay away.
We've used them for several years for oil deliveries and routine furnace maintenance. We had a concern today regarding our thermostat. They were able to come out the same day and replaced it. We had a prior blower service a couple of years ago and had fast service and resolution to our problem. The service technician today was professional and knowledgeable. We highly recommend East Hartford Heating and Cooling.
