Ehrlich Pest Control runs its Massachusetts operation out of Hingham as part of Rentokil Initial's national network, covering the Boston area. The company's own site says it has worked alongside neighbors for almost 100 years, favoring lasting prevention over quick fixes — though the Better Business Bureau lists this specific location as 66 years old, incorporated back in January 1960. Google shows a 4-star average across 250 ratings overall, but the last six months tell a rougher story: nine of the ten most recent reviews are negative, and the same complaint keeps resurfacing — a scheduled visit nobody shows up for. One reviewer says a technician never came and never called, yet the account was still charged for a service that was never performed. Another describes being quoted and charged $325 for a service a technician later admitted the company doesn't actually provide, with no callback afterward. A caller asking about bat removal was told a team would need to come quote it, then told afterward that bat removal isn't offered at all — 'a waste of time,' in their words. An urgent wasp call got a same-day cancellation over 'car trouble,' then a rescheduled visit where a technician sprayed a single hive in the rain and never followed up as promised. Two separate reviewers describe being billed for visits that were never performed, with one unpaid balance eventually landing in collections. Not every recent account is negative: a June review from a commercial customer names technician Bill Coffey specifically, crediting him with keeping monthly maintenance visits on schedule and turning around thorough reports quickly. One May reviewer also flagged a company truck driver who tailgated and gestured obscenely at them on the highway — unrelated to pest work, but the kind of detail that sticks. Across the fuller history of 94 reviews spanning 2021 to today over four different sources, missed appointments aren't a new complaint here, but they look especially concentrated lately. The Better Business Bureau lists Ehrlich as not accredited, with a C- grade tied to three complaints the business failed to respond to. Given how often recent reviewers describe being charged regardless of whether anyone showed up, it's worth getting the cancellation and billing policy in writing before signing a service contract, and confirming upfront exactly which pest problem is covered — several people found out only after the fact that the job they called about wasn't something the company handles. If you land a solid technician and route — the Bill Coffey account is a good example — service here can be prompt and dependable. But given how many recent reviewers describe no-shows and being billed anyway, it's worth confirming a specific appointment window and getting clear answers on cancellation and billing before committing, especially for anything time-sensitive like an active infestation.

Should be zero stars. This has been, without question, the worst experience I have ever had with a service company. They scheduled a service appointment, never showed up, never called, and still charged me for a service that was never performed. What happened next was even more unbelievable. I contacted customer service more than eight times. Every representative apologized, promised to make it right, and assured me that a technician would come out to address my pest problem. Despite all of those promises, no one ever showed up. I wasted countless hours waiting for appointments that never happened and repeatedly had to follow up because no one at the company took responsibility. To make matters even worse, I later obtained the service ticket showing the visit had supposedly been completed. The document indicates that the service was performed and includes a signature in the customer signature area beneath my printed name. I was never present, I never received the service, and I certainly never signed or authorized anyone to sign on my behalf. Seeing a document that suggests I acknowledged work that was never performed was extremely concerning. Charging a customer for a service that was never provided is unacceptable. Repeatedly making promises that no one follows through on is unacceptable. Completing paperwork indicating the service was performed when it was not only makes the situation worse. I would strongly recommend avoiding this company. Between the no-call/no-show appointment, charging me for work that was never completed, more than eight calls to customer service with nothing but broken promises, and the inaccurate service documentation, this has been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I have ever had.

Bill Coffey/Ehrlich is great! Always very responsive and when it comes to doing my company’s PM’s, he is right on schedule and his reports are thorough and come very quick .

Would rate 0 solely for the facts that one of their drivers was driving the work truck like an absolute psychopath this morning all because I moved in front of him on the highway. High beaming me, flipping me off, trying to hit my car, and wouldn’t stop doing it for 10 exits. Called customer service because I was genuinely scared that he was going to do something to me. I would never want someone like that in my home or my place of work. Absolutely ridiculous to act like that in general but especially in a work truck representing a company.

I contracted with them to provide a service, that the technician later stated they do not even provide. Nothing was done at my house, no spraying, no exam of exterior/interior. Wrote back to the sales rep to let him know nothing was done and to cancel all future visits. He stated he understood, then charged my card $325. Could never get him or anyone from the company to call me back after that. Still fighting the charges.
