Homeowners on the South Shore keep hiring Emery Contracting twice. One customer, writing in July 2026, counted four jobs with the same crew: a large addition at a previous house, a basement remodel, custom carpentry, and now a deck. Mike Emery started the company in 1994, after first working construction for his uncle at 18, and the business describes itself as family owned and locally run. BBB has it as an Abington sole proprietorship with seven employees, accredited since 2017 and graded A+. The work people describe is the big-project kind. A June 2026 reviewer had an ADU built off the main house; a March 2026 reviewer walked through a home addition with Mike guiding the process and several mid-project changes and upgrades absorbed along the way. In September 2024, one homeowner described three bathrooms and a kitchen gutted and rebuilt, the house re-sided, and an underused room turned into a floor-to-ceiling library; another described a retail store build-out plus referrals to plumbers and electricians. The same names recur: Mike, Alyse, and in a May 2026 review the two-man team of Sean and Mark. Money comes up more often than it usually does. A January 2026 reviewer compared bids against other local companies and found Emery's reasonable; a 2024 reviewer said the job stayed very close to the quote. For a contractor whose bread and butter is additions, that is a specific and repeated thing to hear. The permit trail backs up the geography. BuildZoom lists 20 permitted projects — roofing, siding, additions and remodels in Plymouth, Pembroke, Hanson, East Bridgewater, Marshfield and Taunton — and its Houzz page claims 21 South Shore towns served. Two things to settle before signing. The company's own site calls itself licensed and insured, but BuildZoom shows no active license on file and a license status it was not able to verify, so ask for the Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration and construction supervisor numbers directly, along with a current certificate of insurance. And the written history is shorter than the tenure: nine Google reviews, all since 2024, alongside a Porch page averaging 4.02 across 12 aggregated reviews, for a company that says it has been at this 32 years. For a South Shore homeowner planning an addition, an ADU, or a whole-room gut where one crew has to coordinate every trade, this is a sensible call — with the licensing and insurance paperwork confirmed in hand first.
Emery and crew completed a new deck for us recently. We now have used them for a large addition in our previous home, a basement remodel and custom carpentry and the deck. We couldn’t be happier with their work and there’s no one else we would use. They’re quick, detail orientated and personable. Thank you!
Emery designed and contractors are so nice to work with. We have truly enjoyed getting to know Mike, Alyse and all the contract workers. We had an ADU built off of the main house, and are so happy with it. Mike chooses very good products and very good people to work for him.
Mike Emery listened to my ideas and Emery's team of Sean and Mark executed them perfectly. Everyone involved were good natured and experts in their field. The project exceeded my expectations and Mike was patient and obliging when I changed my mind about something midway through. Highly recommend.
Emery Contracting recently completed a home addition for me and my family and they could not have been better to work with. From start to finish Mike was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable about everything and helped to guide us through the process. Pricing was excellent compared to other companies and the work was well communicated and timely. They were extremely accommodating as we made several changes and upgrades to the project along the way. I highly recommend Emery Contracting and will be using them for future projects as well.
No home Reno is cheap especially in 2026. However we were blown away with Emery Contracting pricing compared to other local companies. Not only was the price reasonable but they were so professional and easy to work with! We couldn’t be happier with how smooth this project went from start to finish! I would highly recommend reaching out to Alyse and her team. We can’t wait to work together again in future home renovations!
