That unprompted neighbor-to-neighbor pass is how most people seem to find C. Hood & Sons Construction, an Abington company at 95 Monroe St that BuildZoom lists under owner Christopher Hood. Angi and HomeAdvisor both put it at 16 years in the trade and list fencing, flooring and roofing, with laminate, vinyl and tile floor work spelled out — those are the company's own listings, not independently checked. The written history is short and old. Three reviews, all posted in 2021, all five stars, and the same three cards run on both Angi and HomeAdvisor, so it is one small set of customers rather than two. The most useful of them, from August 2021, describes him arriving the day the homeowner called about a squirrel-chewed attic window vent: he straightened the vents, added steel screening so it would not happen again, and showed her a photo of the finished job. Another, from July 2021, is briefer — polite, on time, done faster than expected. The paperwork is the thing to settle first. The company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #202760, is expired: BuildZoom shows it running out on 04 August 2025, still expired when rechecked in March 2026, and reports that Mass.gov at one point carried it as cancelled. BuildZoom's score for the company sits at 0 on that basis. For a small, defined repair — a vent, a stretch of fence, a floor — the word of mouth is genuine and the 2021 accounts are specific about how he worked. Ask where the registration stands before committing to anything bigger.
