Verified record
Espinal Brothers Home Improvement is a Peabody, MA home-improvement contractor whose written record splits sharply by era. Reviews from 2018 and 2019 on Angi describe a specific, well-regarded tradesman named Santo — punctual, fair-priced, and willing to explain the work. But four separate reviews from 2021 through 2024 describe a business that took large payments and then disappeared, with no license to show for it. In the earlier era, a 2018 review said Santo arrived before a 9 a.m. appointment, laid a tarp to protect the floor despite muddy boots, explained why the existing heating system was undersized, and quoted a lower price for a replacement without pressure to upgrade. Another 2018 review called the ductwork 'first class,' though it noted the soffit finish work fell short. A 2019 review praised him for making time on short notice and finishing ahead of schedule, and a 2019 Angi review in Spanish praised kitchen and bathroom repair work. A separate 2019 review described an HVAC job where ducts were left loose and unmodified, with the excuse that the work was 'beyond the budget,' plus a tankless water heater installed without its proper condenser line that later leaked. Starting in 2021, the tone changes. A 2021 review said the company opened a building permit and never closed it despite repeated requests. A 2022 review said the crew took a 90% deposit, worked hard for a week to build trust, then stopped showing up, with no license to pull the permit. A second 2022 review made nearly the same claim: full payment taken, no permit pulled, no finished job. An August 2024 review said $4,500 was taken as a deposit and the crew vanished after three days on site, describing the outfit as unlicensed and working through unlicensed subcontractors. An October 2024 review described the same pattern in different words: money taken, the job never finished, no license, and the customer's calls blocked afterward. Given four independent, detailed accounts spanning 2021 to 2024 that each describe the same pattern — a large deposit, no license, and vanishing before the job is done — treat any request for a deposit here with real caution, and verify licensing with the state directly before signing anything.

A TOTAL SCAM. Stay away, run away and do not hire. I regret to inform you all that this contractor we hired has departed with our funds and left out house and apartment in such disrepair damager state that I am unable to rent it out or secure a new contractor to do my work. This contractor unlawfully appropriated my $4500 deposit, asking for more money in when just a little work was done and ceased showing up at the site after just three days on site. Additionally, he is not a legitimate builder or home improvement company. Rather, he will be sub-contracting these jobs to unlicensed individuals. As a result, he has vandalized my property and absconded without any communication. Had to hire a new contactor and unfortunately have to pay more than what it could have been without his distortion. His guys trashed away all new electrical items into the trash and I had to go digging for them, he even left my house trashed and never showed up, did not pick up my call and keep asking for more more money after I have paid him over 50% of the money for no to less work. Stay away from this so call builder. Total SCAM
this scame company took all my money and never finish my job.and the guy santos never pull up and permit from city.i all ready ready to filled the complain for this.dont do any job with this company.save your money and time.now i get so much hard time to fine someone to finish the job.
before they took the work. Wow they said they are so good. Give them advanced money. Make some trust. They work one week hard to gain your trust and took the 90% money in advance then they never show up...don't trust them. They don't have the license to take permission and don't give them any money advanced. They said they going to complete my basement in 1 month ..its being 5 month I am still calling them ..texting them..no reply...they just took my money and go away. Please don't believe them. I wait this month than i go to police station to file complaint and file a complaint to the state's contractor's licensing board or commission. I made the mistake to give them all the money..
Company opened permit and failed to close after repeated requests.
