FARMERCONSTRUCTION describes itself on Houzz as a small residential remodeling contractor specializing in additions and all phases of interior and exterior remodeling, and says it has been in business 34 years. Its Houzz profile adds, "I'm on the job site actually doing the work." In a 2017 Houzz review, a customer described working with Kevin Farmer on a large job at their home: he tore down a rotting sun room addition, addressed rot issues, leveled the slopping floor joists, rebuilt the 34x12 room and built a composite deck.
We recently worked with Kevin Farmer (Farmer Construction) on a large job at our home. He carefully tore down a rotting sun room addition, addressed rot issues, leveled the slopping floor joists, rebuilt the 34x12 room and also built a composite deck. He is extremely knowledgeable, and was able to clearly explain and translate the technical details to us. We put together the plans and he was able to add in his technical knowledge for any gaps we had. He had no issues whatsoever with our town building inspector, and knew the intricacies of any possible code. He was very flexible when working with us, and gave us all options when multiple options were available. He never forced his opinion or preference on us. He was also very honest and straightforward. He told us when he would be on the job site and arrived every morning by 6:45/7am as promised. He would tell us proactively when the job was waiting on other activities and he would not be present. He was always reachable via phone. He let us know he would rather wait until he could do a job all the way through instead of taking multiple jobs at one time and juggling projects - we witnessed this first hand as he was extremely dedicated to the timelines and getting the job complete. He is very old school - he does not show off with bells and websites and computer-generated marketing. He works on the cell phone and paper. Still, he was amenable when we wanted to use a rather involved contract. He found ways for us to reduce costs - such as being open to us doing some of the demo before he started the work, and also being very easy to work with when we hired some of own subcontractors for electrical and roofing. His technical knowledge and his respect of the job site were our top reasons for recommending him. Every day, before he left, the area was spotless. We didn't think that this was going to be as important for us, but after seeing how the roofing contractor left the site, we really understood the respect that Kevin and his team has for their clients. Even when there was a small leak after the job was finished, he was extremely attentive and came back to help resolve the issue. We are 100% satisfied with our decision to work with Kevin, and will be working with him for future work.
