That spread is the honest shape of the business — a builder whose work is new construction and additions, plus the excavation, sewer and water connections that come before either. The company calls itself family-run, and BuildZoom lists Rosario Ferrante as its owner. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, held under R. Ferrante Construction, LLC. Its own site claims over 25 years of work and more than 50 years of family heritage; its Angi profile self-reports 40 years of experience, along with free estimates and no warranties. What customers have written is thin, and it leans negative. Google shows 3.3 stars across 7 ratings, and three of the four written reviews are one-star. The most detailed arrived in August 2025, when a customer alleged a flat $25,000 supervisor fee on top of subcontractor work — framing, foundation — billed back at a markup, and called it a scam. A second August 2025 reviewer called the owner unethical without specifics, and an April 2025 review described reckless driving by a company truck, an account about conduct rather than about a job. On the other side, a November 2025 five-star reviewer said they had hired the company for three projects with no problems at all. The thing to pin down before signing is money: how supervision is billed, and whether subcontractor costs are passed through at cost or marked up, since that is precisely what the 2025 complaint alleged. BuildZoom also lists an older home improvement registration for the company, #106112, as inactive and at one point cancelled — worth raising alongside the current one. For new construction or heavy site work in the Bedford–Burlington–Lexington corridor, Ferrante has a documented permit history to point at. The customer side is too small and too split to lean on, so ask for references from recent projects like yours and get the fee structure in writing first.
