The permit trail stops in 2018. Nothing newer appears on file, and no customer has written a review anywhere that turned up. The licensing picture is the thing to sort out before anything else. BuildZoom flags the profile and scores it 0 because it could not confirm an active licence: it shows a general contractor licence, #118023, with a 1999 expiration date that it says it re-checked as expired in July 2026, and it lists three Massachusetts home improvement contractor numbers — 118023, 149901 and 165125 — that Consumer Affairs showed as cancelled at some point. Those are the directory's records rather than a verification, but home improvement work in Massachusetts does require current registration, and this trade gets no exemption. So: an experienced house builder on paper, with a decade-old permit record and an unresolved licensing question. Before you talk price, ask him directly for a current HIC registration number and a construction supervisor licence, then check both yourself at the state's Consumer Affairs and Division of Occupational Licensure sites.
