Nine people wrote about Final Pick, and every one of them wrote between March 2020 and June 2021 — a tight burst of detailed accounts, all of them now five years old. What they describe is consistent: gut renovations of Boston condos, mostly in the South End and Back Bay, run by partners Christina and Scott Cleveland out of an address on Baxter Street in Quincy. Those 2020-21 accounts are unusually specific for a directory page. An architect writing in June 2021 said Christina went through the drawings thoroughly before signing the contract, to shrink the unknowns, and stayed in contact with both the architect and the owner throughout the job. A realtor writing in March 2020 described two of her own renovations — kitchen and bathroom gutted, floors refinished, the whole condo painted — and said they came back afterwards to touch up paint. Another March 2020 customer had a full bathroom gutted and replaced inside a two-week window. A December 2020 client listed walls taken down and rebuilt, cabinetry, decorative woodwork and new sliding doors. Two things do not line up between the sites. Houzz heads the profile with Christina and Scott Cleveland as partners; the BBB page for the same Quincy address names John Marchioni as principal, with one employee and a business start date of January 2004. BBB also files the company under commercial contractors, while everything the reviews describe is residential condo work. Houzz lists a construction supervisor number, CS-091347, though that is the directory's own record rather than a state-confirmed one. The praise is real and it is specific. It is also five years old. If you are weighing them for a condo gut, ask who would actually run your job, confirm the licence and insurance directly, and ask for a reference from something finished in the last year or two.
Christina and Scott are incredible to work with! As an architect with many years of experience working with contractors I have to say that they are the ones I would recommend first to any client in the area they work in. Christina is extremely knowledgeable and very detail oriented. She has examined the architectural drawings thoroughly before signing the contract with our client to make sure we limit the unknowns as much as possible. Throughout the project Christina communicated with me as well as with the client constantly. All decisions were made in complete collaboration with me and the owner. Scott's and Christina sub contractors did an excellent job all around. I highly recommend Final Pick for any renovation project you have in mind!!!
My wife and I have been planning a home renovation since we purchased the home several years ago and finally were in a position to start the design and planning just before COVID happened. This pause gave us time some additional time to plan and to talk with several contractors about the renovation. The Final Pick team distinguished themselves from the start as being genuinely interested in understanding what we wanted out of the project, setting clear expectations (even when it meant we needed to rethink some things), and working with us on timing to allow us to get back in to our home as soon as possible after most of the work was completed. Scott and Christina - as well as their entire crew and sub teams - were nothing but courteous and respectful throughout the process. Unlike some contractors I've worked with in the past, their communication and updates were thorough. In situations where issues with design or unexpected structural challenges were encountered, such as an unexpected load bearing wall or air duct, they both identified the issues but also options to work around it to keep the project on track and within budget. And when there were things that really meant a lot to us, such as saving a heated floor or maintaining existing cabinetry, they went the extra mile so we could keep what we already liked about our home. In summary, the highest compliment we can give is that if we were starting this project again, we would 100% go with the Final Pick Team.
Excellent customer satisfaction, great cooperation on our kitchen projects. Scott and Christina are pleasure to work with. They will go the extra step and extra mile to make their clients to be happy.
Final Pick did a wonderful job on our renovation, which included a gut of one bathroom, a number of walls taken down and others put up, extensive electrical work, a large amount of cabinetry and decorative woodwork, and the installation of some sliding doors. We're very pleased with the work and love the new environment they created. In particular, we found Scott and Christina to be warm, responsive, trustworthy people who were great to work with. We highly recommend them.
I would highly recommend Final Pick. The project they worked on for me was a gut renovation of a 1,500 SF condo, which happened to coincide with the COVID shutdown. FP did everything they could to get the job back in progress ASAP, was responsive, thoughtful and creative when it came to the inevitable construction challenges. I will certainly use them on my next project.
