Old pine floors brought back to life are the focus of a July 2026 customer account about Finish First Hardwood Floors. The reviewer named Greg and described an easy experience from the first call through completion. The company says Greg Selby and his wife founded the family-owned business in 2009. Its website places it in Millbury and advertises hardwood installation, refinishing, sanding, repair and staining across Central Massachusetts and Northern Rhode Island, naming towns including Worcester, Grafton, Shrewsbury, Sutton and Westborough. Customers have described both restoring existing wood and installing new floors. In February 2026, a reviewer said Greg and his crew refinished the floors and removed their blemishes. A November 2024 customer described carpet and subfloor removal followed by installation and finishing of oak floors in four bedrooms and a hallway. That customer also praised Greg’s communication about each stage. A June 2024 reviewer described hickory wide-plank installation in an old house with difficult walls and angles, completed on schedule. Refinishing choices feature in other dated accounts. A July 2024 customer wanted to lighten 40-year-old red oak floors with an orange hue and said Greg recommended stripping the top coat and using a water-based polyurethane finish. In March 2023, a reviewer described hardwood refinishing, replacement wood used to patch a stained spot, and refinishing softwood stairs.. A September 2022 reviewer credited Greg and Erik with installing an oak dining-room floor and refinishing the kitchen floor and staircase. The same customer said Greg connected them with a separate carpenter for the staircase post and handrails. A September 2021 Angi reviewer decided not to hire the company after the worker said the pine floor was probably better used as subfloor, while offering to refinish it if wanted. The customer appreciated the worker’s honesty and price but chose to wait and replace the softwood floor when the budget allowed, mentioning their large dogs. That was a consultation followed by a decision to defer replacement. Google lists a five-star average from 34 ratings. Angi and HomeAdvisor each list five-star averages from 50 ratings, and the Better Business Bureau gives the company an A+ grade.
