FONTENOT CONTRACTING CO. INC.

Fontenot Contracting Co. Inc. is a Newton, Massachusetts design-build firm run by Dave Fontenot -- the kind of outfit homeowners call for a full home addition, a basement build-out, or an accessory dwelling unit rather than a single repair. Houzz lists the company across Home Remodeling, Home Additions, Basement Remodeling and ADU categories, and it holds a Newton Historic Preservation Award, pointing to work on the town's older housing stock. The written record is thin but strikingly positive: in a 2014 Houzz review, a homeowner called Dave the most professional and skilled contractor she'd worked with across 27 years of renovating two homes and building a third, singling out his meticulous, itemized estimating and billing as much as the quality of the finished work. That's the only review on file, and it's now more than a decade old -- a real account, not an absent one, but not a current read on the crew either. There's nothing else here to check it against: no complaints, no government actions, and nothing recent enough to say whether the same standard holds today. Worth asking directly about the current crew, pricing approach and recent project references before booking. A fit for a homeowner planning a significant addition, a basement remodel, or renovation work on an older Newton-area home who wants a design-build outfit with a documented, if dated, track record for careful, well-explained billing -- just confirm recent references given how little has been published since.
