Forge is an Auburndale HVAC contractor whose calling card is the heat pump and mini-split install, and its Google page backs that up with unusual specificity: 112 ratings averaging 4.9★, and review after review names the actual crew lead who did the work, from Ili and Ervis to Cayden, Brett, Guy and Dave. The company runs installs as small, named teams rather than an anonymous crew, and that shows up in the writing: a 2026 reviewer credits project coordinator Ryan and team lead Ili for keeping a mini-split job organized start to finish, while another names Dave for building a 3D model of the house before sizing a two-system heat pump. Several reviewers also point to Forge's handling of Massachusetts' Mass Save program, navigating rebates and HEAT loan financing, as something that set it apart from other quotes they'd gotten. That history runs back to 2021 across 95 reviews on four sources, and the most recent six months (28 reviews) carry no negative Google reviews. The written record isn't spotless, though. A September 2025 review (3★) describes an installation that went fine but sat with unclosed permits for 11 months, including a failed inspection the reviewer says was never followed up on. A February 2025 review (1★) calls the workmanship terrible and says Forge wouldn't stand behind its warranty, though it doesn't detail the specific problem. And a Reddit poster in a north-shore subreddit, in a thread from earlier this month, said Forge didn't finish a mini-split install on time and left their house without heat during a cold snap — a specific, recent complaint worth weighing against the otherwise clean recent Google run. Separately, a 2024 review describes Forge backing out of a planned basement-remodel project at the last minute after months of joint planning, which the reviewer says wasted significant time and money. Forge's day-to-day work is overwhelmingly HVAC — heat pumps, ductless mini-splits, and the retrofits that come with fitting them into older houses — but the record also includes at least one broader home renovation (hardwood floors, recessed lighting, trim, painting) from a 2022 review, and a plumbing job a reviewer credited to a technician named Khalil in 2026. Before booking, it's worth asking directly about permit close-out timelines and getting warranty terms in writing, given the two negative accounts above, and, if the job is time-sensitive going into winter, confirming a firm completion date given the recent Reddit account of a missed one. For a straightforward heat pump or mini-split install with Mass Save financing, Forge's most common story is a coordinated team, a named project lead, and steady communication through to a clean finish.
“Frontier, forge, elephant energy.”
“My neighbor used Forge and has been very happy with them”
“Would not recommend Forge. They didn't finish the install on time and left my house without heat during a cold snap.”
“Mass save has a list of approved installers if you want the rebate. I got a bunch of quotes, best 3 were: Elephant Energy. Frontier. Forge.”
“**Highly recommend:** * Thank You, Handyman (Bruce Terzian) * Fischer Windows * Forge for mini splits”
We recently had a mini-split system installed and the experience from start to finish was great. Our project coordinator Ryan and Team Lead Ili kept everything organized communicated clearly throughout the process, and made sure all of our questions were answered. The installation crew (Ili and Henry) worked efficiently and quickly and left the work area clean at the end of each day. The new system works perfectly. We would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking for a mini split installation!
Our AC failed last summer and couldn't be repaired so we embarked upon an odyssey to replace it with a heat pump. After fourteen quotes across five vendors — with multiple independent consultations with municipal authorities — I am currently sitting in my air-conditioned living room and couldn't have been happier with Forge. We did not start out this journey with Forge; in fact, I almost didn't ask them for a quote. What distinguished them in the field were the following things: * the fastest and most comprehensive responses * the most specific and detailed quotes and calculations * the ONLY quote we got — from any of several local reputable providers — whose calculations and recommendations for our needs matched two calculations two separate independent assessors I contacted; everyone else the assessors concluded would be dangerously oversized Along the way, they also pulled some electrical and construction miracles to give us the wiring for a new induction stove, EV charging port, and basement workspace that other electricians and constructors told us might not be possible. Everything is well labeled and up to code, and they finished ahead of schedule. Strongly recommend Forge!
We are so happy with our new heat pump and ductless AC/heat system! Forge did a great job with everything - the sales, designing the new system, help coordinating insulation, rebate, and the installation. Jonny kept us informed all the way through the process and Ervis and team were fantastic when they did the installation. Altogether it was a very positive experience. Forge was professional and helpful throughout.
Forge did a superior job installing the mini splits in my home. The workers were professional and went above and beyond to insure the job was done as I expected. I am very happy I chose Forge.
Really experienced, friendly, and flexible team. I've done one other heat pump install and Forge was professional and high quality all the way through. From the initial consult, to the scheduling, to the installation, all top notch.
