Ninety-seven years in the fuel business from one address on Turnpike Street in Canton, and the thing customers keep writing about is how fast the truck shows up. Frank Lamparelli Oil delivers heating oil, Bioheat and propane and installs and services the equipment that burns it — boilers, furnaces, water heaters, heat pumps, air conditioning and mini-splits — for homes and businesses across the South Shore. The company calls itself a fourth-generation family business; BBB dates it to 1929, accredits it, grades it A+, and lists 32 employees under president Frank J. Lamparelli Jr. Emergencies are where the praise concentrates. A customer writing in September 2025 whose oil tank started leaking got a callback six minutes after reaching the answering service and a technician at the house within the hour. In March 2026 a 16-year customer said the technician had come and gone within an hour of the call; in January 2026 a customer of more than twenty years described the annual tune-up program catching problems before they became breakdowns, and an emergency repair resolved the same morning. A December 2024 boiler failure on a Saturday night was fixed in a couple of hours, and in February 2023 a homeowner away on vacation had the on-call technician coordinate access with a relative after a freeze alarm went off. The complaints are fewer but specific, and they cluster in three places. Air conditioning is one: a July 2023 customer wrote that units the company installed four or five years earlier had problems every year, and that other companies looking at the work called it poorly engineered. The office is another — separate reviews in July 2023 and March 2025 describe the front desk as rude. Billing and delivery terms are the third: a June 2023 customer could not get an explanation of how delivery volumes were estimated, found the rates higher than local alternatives and objected to bills that were not spread monthly, and in January 2026 a customer was refused a 100-gallon propane delivery on one of the coldest days of the year and told to take a full fill instead. A June 2026 reviewer said a boiler cleaning left the filter and nozzle unchanged and that a leak was referred out to a plumber; a November 2024 reviewer said the company took two days to come out. If your priority is a fuel supplier who answers at 2 a.m. in January, that is exactly where the praise lands. Pin down the service-contract terms, the propane delivery minimum and the billing schedule before you enroll — and if you are hiring them to install air conditioning rather than to service heat, ask for references on that specific work.
