The name that keeps surfacing in Gallo reviews isn't the company's — it's a crew leader's. Mike, Derek, Franco, Kevin, Bill, Brian, Meg: customers writing across 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 name the estimator who walked their house and the crew who loaded it, and several ask for the same team again. That is unusual in moving, where crews are usually anonymous, and it is the clearest thing about this Milford company.
Gallo runs a full-service operation out of a Quarry Drive warehouse — local and long-distance moves, packing, office and commercial jobs, senior moves, and storage between homes, as its BBB listing sets out. WBUR, reporting from the site in 2012, described belongings stacked floor to ceiling in what it called a colossal warehouse. The MetroWest Daily News noted in 2011 that Mayflower Transit had honoured the company's Scott Kehr in its household goods regional fleet division.
Estimating comes up as often as the moving itself. A homeowner writing in October 2024 said the movers arrived on time, 95% of boxes landed in the marked rooms, nothing was damaged and the final bill came in under the estimate; another in June 2025 said the quote and the actuals were "super close." A 2023 reviewer described calling at 9:00 AM and hearing back by 11:00 the same day. Senior and assisted-living moves recur too, including a 2025 move of an elderly mother into a retirement facility and a 2024 move for a nearly 97-year-old.
The complaints are worth reading before you book, and they cluster around storage and handling. In an August 2023 review, a customer who stored furniture with Gallo said they returned to find high-end pieces damaged — a chunk out of a bed, a cracked dovetail drawer, scratched pictures and broken glass. A January 2023 reviewer reported lost boxes, broken inherited dishes and a flattened light post, and said they were filing a claim. Separately, a March 2023 reviewer alleged that one of three workers threatened physical violence; that account stands alone in the record, but it is specific and should be raised directly with the office. A January 2025 one-star review says only "very poor services."
One customer's 2024 account cuts both ways usefully: an item was damaged, they had bought the insurance, and they said the team made them whole quickly. If you are hiring Gallo, that is the question to settle up front — what the valuation coverage actually pays, and what happens to your furniture during a storage stay. This is the right call for a full-service local or long-haul move where you want an in-person walkthrough and a fixed quote; get the storage terms and the claims process in writing before the truck rolls.
