Gannon Construction is Patrick J. Gannon's own outfit, a small South Shore general contractor that BBB records as a sole proprietorship with five employees. The work people describe is the bread and butter of an established builder: additions, dormers, basement conversions, garages, siding and roofing. Its written record is real but old. Ten HomeAdvisor ratings average 4.0, and the six accounts behind them run from 2002 to 2010. The fullest of them, from April 2002, describes a project Patrick said would take four months that was usable in two and a half, on budget, built from the homeowner's own rough drawings — the one gripe was sloppy plasterers among the subcontractors. A July 2006 reviewer wrote that the dormer on their cape came out "beyond our expecting." A May 2010 customer called the crew prompt and courteous and was pleased with a new room. The caveat repeats across those same years, and it isn't about the carpentry. Two reviewers, in October 2002 and November 2003, wrote about communication: telephone tag, and a wish for a mapped-out project timeline so they'd know what was happening when. One said outright they'd hire the company again but would insist on sitting down and setting the schedule first. The paperwork doesn't line up cleanly either. BBB grades the business A+ while noting it is not BBB accredited, and says it started in 1996; HomeAdvisor's page says it was founded in 1990 and, on the same page, claims both "over 18 years" and 26 years of experience. The two listings also give different towns, Cohasset on BBB and Weymouth on HomeAdvisor. A reasonable candidate for an addition, dormer or garage on the South Shore, with the important caution that nothing published describes its work in the last fifteen years. Ask for recent addresses and references, confirm its home improvement contractor registration with the state, and settle the schedule and check-in points in writing before it starts.
They were prompt, professional and courteous. We are very pleased with our new room.
Very professional, clean. Great workmanship and attention to details. Good communication. Would highly recommend Patrick Gannon for any type job. The dormer on our cape is beautiful and beyond our expecting.
Thq quality of the work is superior! They came up w/ solutions we would've never thought and it looks great. If this was combined with an excellent project communication plan so I knew what was happening when, then the team would be unstoppable. Would definitely use again but would insist on sitting down and mapping the project time line first. (For my own comfort)
There were a couple of telephone tag calls; but, for the most part this company exceeded my expectations. I definitely would use this company again!
He stands by his work. With every construction project there are unexpected issues. He was a good listener and was very helpful. Good communication is one of his strongest attributes.
