Gassco Heating and Cooling is a Dedham, Massachusetts, HVAC contractor that's been running since 1995 — incorporated in 2000 under president William Gass and treasurer James Farrell, with eight employees on staff today. On HomeAdvisor it holds a 4.8-star average across 38 ratings, 89% of them five stars, and the Better Business Bureau grades it A+. What keeps showing up across the reviews, from 2012 through 2018, is speed on the worst days. In a 2013 review, a customer described Gassco showing up during a heat wave pushing 100°F to fix a dead AC compressor — diagnosed and repaired within 15 minutes because the part was already in the van, after other companies couldn't make it out same-day. A 2012 account tells a similar story: a condenser burned out on a hot Saturday, and Gassco had the system back on within 45 minutes. A 2014 review described two separate heating emergencies handled without delay and at a fair price, with the same customer sticking with Gassco for annual maintenance afterward. When a family needed a new gas furnace in 2013, Gassco walked them through financing options, including the MassSave rebate program and an EPA efficiency deadline that would soon rule out the cheaper unit they were considering. There's a rougher spot too. In a 2017 review, a technician on an after-hours call diagnosed a furnace problem incorrectly — the unit failed again within half an hour of him leaving, and the homeowner had to wait until morning for a fix. HomeAdvisor's page for the business also notes a four-star review complaining about a $169.95 tune-up charge, and states plainly that Gassco doesn't offer free estimates or warranties. For a same-day AC or furnace emergency, or a straightforward install of a heat pump, ductless minisplit or boiler, Gassco's written history backs up the call — just get pricing and warranty terms in writing before the work starts, since the company doesn't advertise either upfront.

The whole installation took 3 days. At the end of each day, they cleaned up. They answered all the questions I asked while they were working. They were very professional.
I am a landlord and have asked my tenants to contact Gassco from time to time with various HVAC issues. Every time I hear good things, communication is sound, replies are quick. I am not local and managing these properties from abroad. The trust is important and I look forward to a long term relationship with Gassco.
After 2 other plumbers my sisters' called within the past week, to try to figure out, during this extreme cold snap, why the heat in my 84 year old mother's house was not registering above 59 degrees for a week (we bought in space heaters to keep her warm), I went onto Angie's List and found Gassco Inc. Last night, I left a message via Angie's List for Gassco asking if they could help resolve the problem. They responded first thing the next (this) morning (by 7:45am). I talked to them and they said they could send someone out, even in the midst of a cold snap, with MANY people without heat or with other frigid-temp plumbing problems. They called me, as they said they would, when their technician was on the way. The technician arrived right on schedule. He came in, diagnosed and SOLVED the problem right away, within an hour, and charged a reasonable fee for his service. My elderly mother's heat is now on and she is very happy, as am I, that she is no longer cold.
Overall very positive experience even though it took a little while to diagnose and get to the root cause (well actually I cannot say this because they were right with their first try but then inadvertently installed a faulty part to fix it). They decided to try the part again after a bit more troubleshooting and fixed it. Very reasonable cost.
