Gold Beech Construction is the Lexington firm people call when a job has a problem nobody else could find. In an account posted in 2023, a homeowner described a leak where an outside brick wall met a flat rubber roof that two other contractors and thousands of dollars had failed to fix; Gold Beech was the first to explain why it was leaking and how it would be fixed. The sentence that follows — "We will never use another contractor" — is not the sort of thing you can buy. The firm is run by Chris Chan-Tse with a small named team: an operations manager, a lead designer and two carpenters. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, 194509, is active, and so is construction supervisor licence CS-114119 — both confirmed against the state registry. What people hire them for has grown. The 2019 and 2020 accounts are modest jobs done carefully: hardwiring an internet cable up two floors, repainting a condo ceiling, replacing water-damaged garage wood and dealing with the carpenter ants found underneath. By late 2023 a customer had the lower level of a house rebuilt as a single-storey residence so a mother could age in place, and credited the pre-construction design process for making the result better than they had imagined. In 2025 a client had an addition built onto a midcentury modern house, and another moved into a Gold Beech new build. The Houzz profile now puts a typical job at $500,000 to $2.5 million. The thread running through all nineteen accounts is process. A 2024 client remodelled a basement while in Italy and followed the whole thing through a daily photo log. A 2020 customer whose heated-floor job turned into water-damage remediation was shown each discovery as it surfaced and told what it would cost. Several describe sealed work zones, air filtration and daily cleanup in occupied homes. One thing to plan for: a 2020 client's budget ran over, though they said Gold Beech was upfront about every extra and worked with them to manage the scope. Get the pre-construction allowance breakdown in writing, and agree how change orders are priced before demolition starts. If you have an architect and a substantial project, this is a firm built around exactly that relationship. If what you have is a small repair, the older accounts say they once took those happily — worth asking whether they still do.
