Gold Beech Construction is a Lexington, Massachusetts general contractor run by Chris Chan-Tse, doing architecturally driven renovations, additions and custom homes across the state, working alongside architects and designers and handling permitting and subcontractor oversight in-house. Both the company's home improvement contractor license (194509) and Chan-Tse's construction supervisor license (CS-114119) are active with the state. The written record here runs unusually deep: 19 reviews across Google and Houzz from 2019 through July 2026, every one five stars, with the same specifics coming up again and again — clear written estimates, daily progress updates, and clean job sites. In a 2025 review, a homeowner whose new home Gold Beech built described Chris as super responsive to any issues after move-in; in a 2024 review, a customer credited the team's upfront pricing transparency on a basement remodel. Two customers — in a 2023 Google review and a 2022 Houzz review — separately described the same job: Gold Beech was the first contractor to properly diagnose and fix a persistent leak where a brick wall met a flat roof, after two other contractors and thousands of dollars had failed to solve it. Earlier reviews from 2019 and 2020 show smaller work too — repainting a ceiling, replacing a kitchen sink, hardwiring an internet line from the basement to a bedroom — before the company's more recent projects moved toward full additions and new-home builds. Worth knowing before calling: Houzz lists a typical job cost of $500,000 to $2.5 million, which points toward major renovations and custom builds rather than small repairs, even though the company's early review history includes smaller jobs. For a homeowner planning a serious addition, custom build, or full remodel in the Lexington area, this is a well-documented, licensed choice — worth confirming upfront whether a smaller project still fits their current scope and budget.
Gold Beech Construction is an excellent General Contractor in the greater Boston area. Their attention to detail, craftsmanship, and team are what stand out. Highly recommend!
Chris and the whole Goldbeech team did a fantastic job on our addition. They had great attention to detail and were extremely polite and friendly; just overall wonderful to work with. They had clear communication, with daily updates on progress and regular updates on the timeline. Our house is a midcentury modern house and it presented many challenges due to its age and unusual construction, but the team had enough experience to troubleshoot any issues. Chris also understood how to scope the project to match the craftsmanship of the house while also simplifying for cost reasons.
Our house was a new build by Gold Beech Construction. From the design and layout to all the small details, it’s clear that Chris and his team put a lot of heart, hard work, and pride into their craft. Since moving in, Chris has been super responsive to any issues—whether or not they technically fall under the warranty. Honestly, I’ve sometimes felt like I was bugging him too much 😄, but he’s always been patient and helpful. If I ever take on a home improvement project in the future, Chris will be the first person I call.
We had several home repairs involving plumbing, electrical and painting tasks. Chris and his team were reliable, and communicated promptly throughout the entire process. His staff were friendly and professional while on the job, and they ensured that site preparation and clean-up were careful and thorough. We were very satisfied with the final results, and highly recommend Gold Beech's services.
An amazing construction company run by a smart, creative, conscientious and caring owner! Chris and his team truly are amazing - the quality of their work is outstanding. Normally I am wary of hiring independent construction groups as many do shoddy or half-assed work. Gold Beech is the opposite - it's like working with an artist who also understands timelines. I can't recommend them highly enough!
