Gotta Get A Gutter is a Boston roofing and gutter outfit that HomeAdvisor lists as family-owned, run by an owner customers know as Christian who shows up in person for the work. What stands out across the ten written reviews on file, spanning November 2020 through November 2022, is how specific the praise gets. In a 2021 review, a customer described Christian replacing a downspout torn off in a nor'easter and refusing payment for it. Another 2021 review recounted him coming out the same day he was called, adding extra brackets to fix a gutter that wasn't properly attached at no extra charge, after which the customer said their cellar stopped flooding. A third 2021 review credited him with fixing a long-standing drip-edge problem on a rubber roof while he was there for gutter work — because, the reviewer noted, he's also a roofer. Not every account is glowing. In a 2021 review, one customer said the gutter replacement got done but the slate work in the proposal never did, despite repeated attempts to reach him, and worried the unfinished slate could come loose and hurt someone. A separate 2021 review called the experience "unreliable and erratic" and "a nightmare" without further detail. HomeAdvisor lists a trade license (#218971, expiring March 2028) for the business, and Angi lists a different number (#965799, expiring December 2026) — neither has been checked against a state registry, and the two directories don't agree with each other. Anyone calling is worth asking directly about scheduling and follow-through on multi-part jobs, given the slate complaint above, and getting a firm timeline in writing before work starts. For straightforward gutter cleaning, repair or installation — most of what people hire this company for — the specific, repeated praise for showing up fast and doing more than asked is the more common story.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Gotta Get A Gutter. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A square is 100 sq ft of roof surface — bigger than the floor plan because of pitch and overhangs.
Estimated range
$9,000 – $18,600
Typical roofing project around $13,800
Would rather not say. I think he was going through some personal things in his life at the time.
Christian replaces the downspout that was blown off during noreaster. He was all about service. The downspout is more secure than before. He even painted the replacement to match the portion that was salvageable. Here's the amazing part,he would not accept payment! Who does that in this self centered world we live in? I will save his info and share with friends and family who may need gutter work. He is skilled at what he does but also has a heart for people!!
Unreliable and erratic. It was a nightmare.
Christian came in person the day we called him. He cleaned the gutters and installed 2 downspouts. He noticed areas the gutter was not properly attached to the house and added extra brackets to rectify the problem without out charging extra. I was so impressed with his service I have requested he return regularly to clean our gutters. His price was better than other quotes and he came immediately and did the job in the rain. Thanks to him or cellar is no longer flooded. I have already recommended him to neighbors for gutters and roofing.
Christian was great, and the work was fantastic. He took the time to understand all of the issues we were having with our gutters, and he came out to the house before giving a quote. Because he is also a roofer, Christian was able to repair a long-standing issue with the drip edge on our rubber roof. Christian coordinated a time for the work and made sure that it worked with our schedule. We were lucky that we were not in a rush to schedule, but it was clear that Christian is able to respond to homeowners who urgently need assistance. Ahead of the visit, he sent: 1) his insurance liability certificate to ensure coverage and protection 2) a quote with the details about the work Christian went above and beyond the work agreement. Among other things, he washed our filthy skylight, did a quick power-wash of some siding and used a leaf-blower to clear debris knocked loose during the cleaning. He was available throughout the planning via phone and text, which was very helpful for my schedule. We will ask Christian to return in the fall for our seasonal gutter clean, and I enthusiastically recommend him to anyone seeking gutter or roof work.
