In August 2026 a customer wrote that Guide Construction Solutions started with an insulation job in their basement and came back a second time to renovate the kitchen: the crew took down some walls, reframed the foundation, upgraded the utilities, replaced windows and installed cabinets, plumbing and electric. That customer named Mark, Liam and their team and called them "real house scientists." Another August 2026 customer, who found Guide through Efficiency Vermont, wrote that the company brought "a truly scientific approach" to their kitchen renovation and finished on time and on budget. In July 2026 a renter gave one star. The renter paid $400 for an energy audit to take to their landlord and told Mark up front that the work depended on incentives; Mark said shepherding clients through the incentives process is part of the service. After weeks of silence, Mark told the renter the incentives were being cut in half in three days, then did not respond while the renter and landlord tried to reach him before the cut. When they spoke two weeks later, the renter wrote, Mark made excuses and declined the project, leaving the renter out the $400 and in a cold, moldy house. In a March 2022 review, a customer recommended Mark and Ian for a thorough energy-efficiency assessment, praising the analysis, scope of work and completion. The North Ferrisburgh company describes itself as a father-son design-build team and says it has been in business 3 years. Vermont's registry shows its contractor registration, 174.0000215, held by Guide Construction Solutions Inc., as expired. Google shows 4.1 stars from 9 ratings.
I found Guide through Efficiency Vermont and they brought a truly scientific approach to our kitchen renno. They were thoughtful, thorough, patient, and precise. I am so so so pleased with the work which they finished on time and on budget. Would reccommend!
We started with a necessary insulation job in our basement and ended up working with them a 2nd time to renovate our kitchen. They took down some walls, reframed the foundation, upgraded all our utilities, replaced windows, installed cabinets, plumbing, electric, and so much more more. These guys are real house scientists and it was a pleasure to work with Mark, Liam and their team from start to finish.
Nonresponsive in time-sensitive moments and disrespectful of other people's serious situations. I rent a home, and I personally paid for an energy audit so I could take the information to my landlord. I told Mark right up front that that was the situation, and that I was expecting the only way I'd get any of the necessary work done on my house was with the incentives. He said part of their services is shepherding clients through the incentives process. The audit went fine, and the information was provided in a timely and informative manner. I heard nothing from Mark for weeks, and when I finally reached back out, he said "oh the incentives are getting cut in half in 3 days." My landlord and I rallied and attempted to contact Mark before the cuts. Mark did not respond. I finally was able to get in touch with him two weeks after the cuts, and he chuckled about the fact that someone now has to pay $5000 more and I may have to move, and he made excuses for not responding. I said I would appreciate if he would work with my landlord to see if there is still a path forward, and instead he "declined" to take the project. I am now out $400 for the energy audit and stuck in a very cold and moldy house. Do not engage him unless you are prepared to ride herd.
Real professionals every step of the way. Demonstrated knowledge and competence in the analysis, scope of work and execution/completion. Great people to work with. Would highly recommend Mark and Ian to anyone interested in getting a thorough assessment of energy efficiency (or rather energy inefficiency) and effective solutions.
