Guzman Fine Carpentry is a one-person shop Elvin Guzman runs out of Swampscott, taking on finish carpentry and small interior remodel and repair jobs across the North Shore and Essex County — the company quotes work online rather than through an in-person site visit. Eight Google reviews, all five stars and dated across 2021 and 2022, describe a consistent kind of job: rotted door and window frames cut out and rebuilt with matching material, a gutted utility room rebuilt with new drywall, a closet and custom shelving, and finish work like weather stripping and a rebuilt cabinet drawer. Reviewers from that period kept mentioning two things — that Elvin explained his material choices as he worked, and that he cleaned up the jobsite each day; one 2022 review described him walking through why he'd chosen one material over another while replacing a windowsill and frame. Worth checking before booking: the state registry shows Guzman's construction supervisor license (CS-116515) has expired, while his home improvement contractor registration (202822) remains active. The review history runs through late 2022, so ask about current lead times when you reach out — but the jobs on record, mostly door, window, cabinet and small remodel work, are exactly what this shop is built for.
Guzman Fine Carpentry provided excellent service and communication throughout our entire project. Elvin informed me about what he was doing and why. We had an exterior windowsill and frame replaced. As the installation was taken place Elvin would update me and inform why he chose a certain material over another. In addition, he put insulation around the window to make it tighter. He took care and respected of our surrounding and cleaned up each day… I have worked with many contractors, and I have found Elvin very straight forward and fair. I would highly recommend Guzman Fine Carpentry for any of your carpentry needs. They are fair and honest and do high quality job. You can be assured that the job will be done correctly with no short cuts.
We were very pleased with our experience with Guzman Fine Carpentry. Elvin was prompt, courteous and professional. He did excellent work at a fair price and we would definitely recommend his company and use his services again.
Elvin and his team took paneling and ceiling tiles down from a bedroom in our house and replaced them with drywall. The room had many odd angles and they did terrific work! Elvin communicated well regarding the status of the project and was always pleasant to speak with.
Elvin from Guzman Fine Carpentry did an absolutely incredible job of turning our nasty old laundry/utility room into something beautiful, modern and functional. He did everything from removing old tiles, installing new drywall, building a new closet to enclose our water heater, installing cabinets and custom shelves, and all the skilled finish carpentry that comes with a renovation. He was always polite, friendly and professional, and took the time to clean up after every day as well. This room was an annoying “jig-saw puzzle” because of all the plumbing/pipes that needed to be boxed in, and a weird layout that required thoughtful placement of cabinets. Elvin rolled with the punches and made everything look so beautiful. We have had some negative experiences with carpenters in the past, and Elvin was such a breath of fresh air. If you live in/near Salem, MA , you should absolutely hire Guzman Fine Carpentry for your next project!
Elvin was professional, courteous, and efficient. I had bought curtains and rods over 5 years ago, and he did a super job installing them on walls made of plaster and horsehair using knowledge about old houses and how they're constructed about which I was clueless.
