Halco has been selling cabinets on Broadway in Malden since 1946 — eighty years, now run by Tim Procopio — and the pitch today is the whole job rather than the boxes: design, cabinetry, and a project manager to run the trades. The most detailed account of what that looks like came in February 2025, from a couple who met the crew at a Wilmington home show. They wrote that Halco took their non-traditional kitchen ideas seriously, that the planning and contract stage came with explanations and suggestions rather than pressure, that the subcontractors were punctual and cleaned the site every day, and that the job moved faster than expected despite roadblocks — tracked through the Buildertrend app so they could see where things stood. In August 2023 another reviewer pointed at Tyler, the person running their job, and called him honest and easy to talk to. Scale-wise, this is a small shop with a long reach: five employees per the BBB, an A+ grade with nothing filed against it, thirty project photo sets on Houzz spanning Ipswich, Winthrop, Beverly, Malden and a Peabody deck, and thirteen permitted projects in BuildZoom's records. Houzz puts typical jobs between $40,000 and $200,000. Two things worth checking. The written record is only two reviews deep, so the consistent picture they paint rests on a thin base — ask for two or three recent clients you can call. And on credentials, BuildZoom lists both a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration (#164838) and an electrical business licence (#9170) as active; neither has been checked against the state registry here, so get the numbers from Halco and verify them yourself. If you want a kitchen designed and built by the same outfit, with cabinetry chosen in a showroom rather than a catalogue, this is that kind of business — long-established, small enough that you will deal with the people doing the work.
“This is beautiful!! You guys always do stellar work!”
We discovered Halco Kitchen & Bath at the Home Show in Wilmington MA in early 2024. After speaking with their crew at the home show for only a few minutes, we could tell they had the same values, integrity, and high standards that we were looking for. They were receptive to our non-traditional kitchen ideas and were excited to bring our vision to life. Everyone, at every phase, showed us patience and respect. The planning and contract negotiation phases went really well with lots of good suggestions, explanations, and communication. Halco’s subcontractors were experts in their trades and were punctual, careful, professional, and cleaned the job site every day. The speed with which our project was completed, despite some unexpected roadblocks, was amazing. They kept us on track with gentle nudges and we rarely had to do the same for them because they were always one step ahead of us. Communication was great, especially with the Buildertrend app. This project exceeded our expectations and we are incredibly pleased with everything they did for us. We will definitely be working with them in the near future when we undertake more home improvements.
HALCO is the best, hands down. The man running the show, Tyler, is experienced, completely honest and easy to speak with. He will seamlessly explain what work needs to be done to meet your needs without missing a beat. A very intelligent tradesman, I would (and do) recommend him/HALCO all of the time. Give them a call, speak with Tyler, you won't regret it.
