Hale Design Build Corporation is a Gloucester design-build contractor working on high-end custom homes, renovations and additions along Massachusetts' North Shore, plus commercial and hospitality projects; the company also runs a separate team in South Florida. It names Drew Hale as founder, Sharon Russo as project manager and Doug Burnes as construction supervisor, and points to the Caturano Group's Tonno Gloucester as a hospitality client it has kept working with. Massachusetts registry records show an active Home Improvement Contractor registration, #137183, held in the corporation's own name, and BuildZoom carries an active Massachusetts Construction Supervisor licence, #CS-081785, under Drew M Hale that it says it verified in July 2026 — the credential Massachusetts requires for work touching a building's structure. BuildZoom's permit records show ten permitted projects. There is very little customer feedback. One review exists, from December 2025: a homeowner who said they had been through numerous renovations before wrote that they chose the firm for Drew's energy about the project, that the energy carried through design, construction and completion, and that they were impressed by the organisation, communication and craftsmanship, with creative solutions to problems delivered inside the approved budget. In August 2023 a Gloucester community publication thanked the company and Drew Hale for donating labour, time and some materials to repair the West Parish Elementary School Science Park. What is worth checking is the paperwork and the references. BuildZoom lists the same Construction Supervisor number CS-081785 twice — once active, once inactive and described as at one point cancelled — so ask which record is current. The four client quotes on the company's own site are anonymous, attributed only as "Hale Design Build Client" in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Gloucester and Rockport, so they cannot be verified. A plausible choice for a high-end coastal renovation or custom build on Cape Ann, with the caveat that almost nothing independent has been published about the work. Ask for several recent, contactable North Shore references, confirm both the HIC registration and the construction supervisor licence directly with the state, and — given the firm runs a second operation in Florida — confirm which team and which supervisor will actually be on your job.
