Hancox Kitchens

Tara Hancox-Sweeney designs kitchens by appointment from Concord Street in Wilmington, and the people who write about her talk about the drawing more than the carpentry. One customer who bought a dilapidated Wilmington house with what they called the world's most awkward layout wrote in September 2024 that her design changed not just the kitchen but the whole main living space, and that the before and after photographs are unrecognisable. Customers keep describing the same thing: what she saw in the room before they did. A homeowner in August 2023 said she knew what they wanted, and what they did not yet know they wanted, from the first meeting, and pushed them to be braver with their taste while respecting their own vision for the kitchen. A May 2024 client had a kitchen and a bathroom done together and remembered her enthusiasm for the space from the start. An interior designer writing in September 2024 said she has used Hancox for many client projects and relies on the sense of style, the budget and the schedule. One thing to check before signing anything. The Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration attached to the business, #160970, is held by Frederick Hancox and the state registry records it as expired; BuildZoom shows the same number inactive with an expiry date of 14 September 2022. The Better Business Bureau describes the business as a one-person LLC started in October 2013 and managed by Tara Hancox-Sweeney, with an A+ grade and no complaints on file. If your project needs a registered contractor to build what has been drawn, ask who that will be and check their registration yourself. The name has been around Wilmington a while. A local news story in 2018 credited Fred Hancox of Hancox Kitchens & Construction with helping Carpenters Union 339 build the base that supported the Wall for the week it stood in town. This is a good call if you want the kitchen designed properly before anyone swings a hammer, anywhere north of Boston up toward the New Hampshire lakes. Ask what the design fee covers, who will hold the construction contract, and to see projects finished in the last year, since the written accounts stop in September 2024.
