I reached out to Hard Knocks Construction for an estimate to repair/replace a failing deck as I prepared to sell my home in May 2026. I had seen the company’s posts for a few years in town Facebook groups and never saw any negative mentions, so they were one of a few companies that I reached out to. From the outset, the owner Bobby was punctual and courteous. He was honest about the condition of the deck during the initial visit and also pointed out some other areas of concern (e.g., cracks in the brick veneer of the house that needed repointing). His estimate and write ups were very thorough, he answered all of my questions, and he worked with me on several adjustments that I requested prior to signing. I appreciated the personal attention to detail and preferred working with a local small business (as opposed to a larger company that would subcontract out the job), so I signed on with Hard Knocks for the work. As other needs came up while Bobby and his crew were working on the deck, I ended up expanding the scope of the work significantly. In the end, Hard Knocks handled a significant outdoor revamp of the property including repainting the house, cleaning & repairing gutters, replacing a fence, removing trees, re-grading the yard, demolishing several structures, replacing a large window, fixing a drainage issue, planting grass with temporary irrigation, and sealcoating the driveway. They also repaired a structural issue with an addition to the house that was revealed when the original deck was removed. On top of that, Hard Knocks also assisted me with junk removal and a dumpster rental during my subsequent move. Bobby was fully involved from start to finish and kept in close contact by text regarding progress on all of the various project efforts. He takes pride in his work and truly cared about getting the job done well in the timeline I needed. His pricing was fair and on more than one occasion he upgraded things without extra cost (e.g., substituting premium grass seed for regular). My exterior house and yard were completely revamped and my only regret was having waited until I was leaving to have the work done. I highly recommend Hard Knocks Construction both for the quality of work and for the genuine care that Bobby brings to every day on the project.

Bobby did a great job on my bathroom remodel. He also did my gutter cleaning and helped me map out my next projects. I will be using his services again, soon!

Bobby did a fantastic job installing our LVP floor in our basement. The quoting process was fast simple and straight forward. Scheduling was easy and flexible and the job was done fast and more importantly came out perfect. Kind, straight forward and dependable guy.
